Orange mobile, advice needed please?
My mum has been with Orange for 11years now and is just one of those customers who sticks within her contract mins and texts each month but is still paying £30 per month. Her phone has been playing up for months and as she was so close to upgrade she's not really complained. Now her phone has completely broken and it genuinely is not her fault. They won't let her upgrade for free until the 29th when her contract actually runs out (i've always been offered upgrades a couple of months before my end date) and they seem to be offering her really old handsets as they said she isn't on a high enough tariff to be entitled to any modern free handsets. She's threatened to leave but they still aren't haggling. Any advice on what she should say or would you jump ship to another company? Also will she be able to keep her number as she's self-employed and needs thisnumber as it's on all her business stationery and van. Thankyou in advance.

Best way to get a good deal with most networks is to actually give notice/request her PAC.
She can keep her number by getting her PAC and porting it to another network.
The game these days seems to be that you actually have to tell them you're going to go elsewhere and be prepared to give notice before the good deals start coming. Once her notice/PAC code request is in, they'll likely ring her and offer her a better deal.
If not, take her number elsewhere - there is plenty of good advice on this board about getting decent deals, if you let us know what she is looking for!0
