Uswitch/virgin Rip Off

  • Uswitch have claimed to me yesterday that Virgin only send them 1000 voucher codes per month and at the moment they are only sending codes for February.

    Disgraceful.
  • I went through and read everything carefully with this. I checked through the uSwitch site and started to order, but saw no mention of the wine. So I cancelled and started again from the MSE site (clicking the link to uSwitch from there)

This took me through a different "route" which DID mention the wine. I had also read that it takes about 3 months for the wine to come through as they basically need time to switch (which was about 6 weeks), time to send a bill and time to receive payment.

I'm coming up to my time for getting the wine & I'm very much hoping that I get it for FREE as implied!

I'm pretty sure I've done everything right so we shall see...
  • When Martin was advising us to go for a capped price I went thru Uswitch for the Scottish Power fixed deal. I changed my mind within the 7 days but a month later Uswitch emailed me with the Virgin wine voucher code. Three days later a free case of wine was delivered. Great.

Having completed this transaction through the site and not having received anything I got onto USwitch and Virgin Wines. Virgin said that they had no idea this was happening to other people and USwitch tried to fob me off with 'that £40 off when you spend £79.99' voucher. I emailed to tell virgin that they were getting bad press about their association with USwitch and told USwitch that I wanted the voucher that was advertised. I also threatened to speak to Trading Standards about their conduct.

They informed me that the MSE website has a 'signature' that gets carried onto the switching form. Only when this 'signature' is present will the voucher be sent. I told them that the lack of signature was not my problem and that I had fulfilled my part of the bargain.

I have just placed my order with Virgin after having received my voucher by email from USwitch. Complaining seems to have done the trick.

Try sending emails that copy in other departments in - as I have worked for Virgin before they start to worry about their reputation. Get onto USwitch and demand the voucher - quote the MSE website and threaten to have the association of MSE, Virgin and USwitch look like a very disappointing scam. Which, looking at this forum, is what it does look like.

Good luck guys, fingers crossed my wine will be delivered soon.

I really don't think Virgin have anything to do with the problem, perhaps MSE needs to check their link to make sure it works.

Did you clear your cookies before clicking on the USwitch link? That is certainly how cashback sites know you are a new introduction.

  • Resurrecting an old thread I know, but I had this problem today and this discussion came up in the search.

You have to call and ask Uswitch for you vouch:beer:er code (probably minimising how many they give out).

    1/ Go to dubdubdub(dot)virginwine(dot)co(dot)uk/uswitch

2/ go to the which ever wine pack you want (the totally free £56 with P&P is the best value)

3/ Go to check out (if you haven't already registered they'll ask you to do it now)

4/ Enter the voucher code they've given you - credit of £60 will appear

Wine will be with you in 3-5 days, no further purchase necessary.

Pasg hapus pawb! - Happy Easter all!
