Do you believe the DWP or me as I am saying different. I am on long term IB and was turned down without a medical.
What I am reading on this forum just shows how dishonest the DWP are, they claim they a fair organisation but in practice its different.0 -

DLA and IB are two seperate benefits, with different conditions and procesess.
You may be able to be disallowed without a medical for DLA, but not for IB.
The only time an IB claim can end without examination, is if someone fails to attend an examination, or fails to submit themselves for examination, without good cause. Both these decisions have the right of appeal.
Just because you didn't like the DLA decision doesn't mean it was wrong, nor that the DWP is dishonest.
Your DLA decision carried the right of appeal - use it.0 -
Sorry this is false.
My DLA claim was turned down without a medical.
Previous claim before that was 2 years.
Previous medical before that for IB was around 9 months and said I was immobile so they clearly ignored it.
So are you saying they made a mistake on my claim? and its not normal practice in which case I would have expected the tribunal to pick up on it which they didnt this indicates to me its not abnormal practice.
No what I said was correct, I was talking about IB NOT DLA. Thank you to stazi for explaining above.0 -
ok fair enough they carry different procedures

Can I ask the original poster whether they did need to provide a Med4? I have just received an IB50 and been asked to go to my doctor for a MED 4 when I have not previously had to.0

As Stazi has explained further up the thread this is a mistake and you do not need a Med 4 after the first IB50.0 -
maybe they meant the ib50 info was accepted (without med4) but it didnt necessarily mean you had passed the pca it just meant they werent going to ask you for more info.0

I just got this form today as well. Been on IB 3 years and the husband is now off work & not at all well, so we are really worried at our total dependancy on benefits. If they were to decide I was fit to work (I have ME and its hard to fill in the forms because such a changeable condition) -- if they said I was fit to work, is that me just cast out into the jobcentre, or can I get one of these over 50 or new deal thingies to maybe help me go self employed? Self employment looks better to me than trying to cope with a job because I know I couldnt last more than a week !0
