Carphone Warehouse - PAYGo Airtime query on new phone

I've recently bought a new PAYGo mobile from CPW and as part of the deal, I had to buy £10 airtime. The phone's arrived with a sim card but I can't see any sign of the £10 airtime. Is this because the credit's already loaded onto the sim?
Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I wanted to check it out because I wasn't planning on opening the sim card unless necessary (I'm going to use my current sim). Also, I wanted to get my facts right before ringing Customer Services and I'm not sure whether to open my phone if something's wrong with my order.
All help gratefully received - I'm itching to play with my new phone!

Its normally pre-loaded on the SIM. If you want to use your existing number, why not sell the SIM on ebay?0

That's great - thanks for replying so speedily! It's saved me ringing up Customer Services and sounding like an idiot.
I had thought about selling the sim but I reckon it could be difficult to get my £10 back on a Virgin sim loaded with £10 credit, as Virgin give away sims with £5 credit for free. 0 -
No prob.....You could always give Virgin a bell and see if they'd transfer the credit between SIMs.0

Hi Happyshopper,
Like you I recently purchased a PAYG phone from CPW, on T-Mobile. I also had to purchase £10 airtime which took two days to be credited. If you still have your receipt you will notice that the £10 airtime was put through seperately from the handset and will have a network transaction reference which you can use to chase up you airtime, as I had to.
Good luck0 -
Hi Intasun32, thanks for your feedback. Just to clarify a couple of things:
- was your airtime credited to your sim card?
- should I wait for two days for my airtime to be credited? Or do you mean that the airtime should have been on your sim card when you got it, and it wasn't, and it took CPW two days to sort it out?0 -
Hi Happy Shopper,
Yes the credit was added to my sim card/new mobile number. A quick call to the network c/s will confirm the amount you have in credit or if you have activated the sim you should be able to bring up the credit on your handset. In my case the credit never showed for two days, good old CPW but it's the norm for instant credit.0
