Is that right? I thought everything needed a customs label out of the EC. Surely a small but valuable book would be liable for customs duties and would need to be declared.

There are various customs labels that you may have to complete and attach to your item before posting:- You will need a customs label if you are sending items outside of the EU
- For goods up to £270 in value use customs label CN22 - download a CN22 label.
- For goods over £270 in value use customs form CN23 and the SP126 plastic envelope - download a CN23 customs form.

I've sent many things to Canada and even left the returns sticker on the back. I didn't know until one day the post office lady told me. But I've never had a problem.0

I post to Canada all the time and have never been told to put the return address on the front. Now I'll worry next time!!:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0
