AOL CONTRACT - can anyone help

Hello

I'll keep this as short as possible, but can anyone out there help me.

In July last year i started a broadband contract with AOL on the gold package. For two months everything was fine, no problems. They then offered me the Platinum package, which I took. Then the problems started. No signal for days and days, disconnections etc etc. Obviously I phoned customer support (hundreds of times!!), who were very unhelpful, all the usual things - change filters, reinstall software etc. They sent a BT engineer out, who fixed it for about two weeks, then it started again. This sorry saga carried on until November, when AOL informed me that I was in a long line area and so wasn't able to receive BB Platinum (2MB), and that as a consequence they would downgrade me back to Gold package. The problems have eased slightly since, but I still can only connect in off peak hours and on certain days. I've tried writing to them etc and nothing has changed. So i decided to just let my contract run down. I phoned today to cancel my AOL contract as i've been with them for 12 months, and was informed that i couldn't cancel until NOVEMBER!! as i had taken out a new contract then (the downgrade to Gold caused by them not been able to offer me the service), so basically i've spent the last 10 months and will spend the next 4 months paying £24.99 per month for a service that I am not receiving.

Any advice anyone, sorry this message is a bit long, but i'm about to explode and lob the computer through the window.

thanks

    Hi,
Please look at thread concerning AOL changing contract to your detriment by charging for technical support. This gave the right to cancel contract as they were no longer providing the agreed service. It may help you, but check dates etc..
