You know your addicted to OS when...

i just got home from work and i realised tonight just how much MSE and oldstyle has affected my life!

Picture this.. im stacking out the "homebake" section in work which ive done for months when one the lads comes over and hands me a box of my stock hed found.. it was a box of scone mix. The converrsation that followed is detailed below...

Me: "Phh! Surprises me how quick this sells out.. i mean why would you wanna make scones using scone mix out of a box when they are sooooo easy to make and taste so much better and cost half the price!" :rotfl:

Him: "Convienience! Thats what this shop is all about isnt it?"

Me: "But for the few extra mins you know exactly what your eating and it tastes better. All these "conviencience" foods are rubbish and a rip off!"

Him: "yeah but some people dont have the time.. i mean if you finished work and fancied say a curry for example... you wouldnt wanna go home and have to prepare it all would after youve been at work all day would you? You'd call in here and go the deli or that and pick one up"

Me: "No i would have prepared it and had it in a slow cooker while i was at work so it was ready for me coming home!" :rotfl:

Him: "What?! your kidding right?"

 :rotfl:

i then sat reading the "Money diet" throughout my dinner hour - eating my pack lunch and resisting the vending machine! ;)

You even re-stock the cleaning cupboard at work with bottles of vinegar.

OS has totally effected my life...it really has helped to lower my debt and i watch every penny now.....for example in the post this morning....

a bill from BT for one month.....£4.49!!!!! (i was £9.40 in credit on last bill!) blimey i said, noted the amount and date of DD filed it, and threw the envelope and bumpf into the recycling bin.

some "friends" constantly take the mickey out of my "eccentric" ways but i just laugh about it secretly to my self noting with glee that julys actual food spend for me and 4 kids was only averaging £33 pwk....while they are stressing out at tesco every sat morning while its heaving with people spending my entire months budget in a morning i sit here munching homemade bread with homemade jam and a nice cuppa!!!!

my son no 2 says to his dad the other day when he popped in to see the kids....mum made this bread for my sandwich and the jam....but she didnt make the butter!!!! i flipently replied no well we dont have room for a cow otherwise i would have lol......

.....hmmmmmm methinks..hold on, surely we could squeeze one in someplace????????

..when half the ingredients that used to be in your pantry are now in your cleaning cupboard :)

My OH did that all by himself without me asking, because he'd used the vinegar in the bathroom. :T :T :T :T We'll be stuck if we ever get fish and chips from the chippy (not that we'd spend that sort of silly money! )

Also, when you watch "You Are What You Eat" or that "Should I be worried about additives" programme and you think - well, we eat well. Are these people thick? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Then you realise that you (me) was like that many eons ago :o:o:o:o

When you have bottles of white vinegar in the bathrooms, next to the washing machine, under the sink, but forget to check if you've enough malt to put on your chips D

Speaking of which - anyone going to watch dispatches on Thursday?? Its about 'supermarket secrets' and all the nasties we didnt know before. As soon as I saw the first ad - my boyf said, "I guess we are watching that then. And never going to a supermarket again....."

Back to the OP, I knew I was addicted to oldstyle when I saw the benefits of home cooking - My boyf got the 'best pizza of his life' and £15 stayed in the bank. I also worked out that two pizza bases in sainsburys was 99p, and I made three for approx 35p, without the nasties in them. I like knowing that I can feed us both well for £2.00!!

My OH said exactly the same thing in a "roll eyes" type way.  :D
