When your take away pizza addict husband stops buying them because 'our home made ones taste better!' :T

When you water down vinegar in a spray bottle that you got on offer in Wilkos.

When you have one spray bottle upstairs and one downstairs.

When you realise you haven't bought washing powder for ages because you're using so much less per load than before.

When you save all the supermarket carrier bags and use them as bin liners.

When you have less carrier bags than before because you don't buy as much anymore.

When you pick up someone's old planters they don't want and plant a little herb garden for all your home cooked yummies.

When you check this site during the night if you can't sleep.

When you learn how to cut hubby and toddler's hair.

When you notice your bin is only half full at the end of the week because you've cut down so much on packaging/been using things before they go off.

When the whole family takes pack-ups out. With containers full of tap water or own brand pop.

Your freezer's always full of marked down food.

You wonder why yiou used to think grilling veggie burgers was quicker than making a stir fry.

You pick up change you find on the pavement.

You can't wait to hear the next tip. :j

MIL is "black-afronted" as they say in Glasgow where they live by me and and her hubby when we go out. may i suggest that near pubs is a good place - people drunk heading for taxis........ also bus stops...... not like i spend my time going 'round urmston looking at the pavement but it is something i've noticed :D
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Tell them you're doing a national service! Remember there was a request for people to get their piggie banks changed a few years ago because we were running out of coppers?

Maybe that was just the bandk of England. Or maybe it had something to do with not enough police any more and I got the wrong end of the stick! :D

when you get really excited seeing 4 ..yes 4... reduced "yellow sticker" trollies instead of the usual one when you get into work (tesco) and immediately run back to the locker room to text your mum (in my case) to tell her.. and to say you will pick up anything off it that you know we will use :o:o:o

    (Mmm.. Kit-Kat Chunkys.. 9p each! :j :p )
  • Okay so we had leftover stuffing from roast dinner yesterday - I
asked OH if he wanted me to heat it up so he could finish it for supper, rather than cook cheese on toast or toast and marmite as usual. He replied "no, why dont we juyst pick u some cooked pork or cooked chicken from Morrisons and have it for supper otmorrow". Now, why would anyone in their right mind want to buy chicken etc that someone else has cooked, had the nice smells in their house, and then pay for the preivleage! I huffed, popped it in the microwave anbd ate it myself

OH rolls his eyes when I get excited about saving the odd few pennies too, but I know it is helping us reduce our debt and save for baby and house - he loves the grub too and never complains, just thinks I take it a bit far I think. Wouldnt even DISCUSS resuable nappies this weekend!

(Seriously, the nappy thing! Stick at it. We had to use disposables for a couple of weeks recently after 18 months of nice soft washable ones. Baby not impressed and has learnt to take them off through the leg hole of his vest. Back in washables and he loves them. And I was not impressed at how much disposables cost! They really aren't a hassle at all. :j )

When you have 2 purses. One for your money, switch card etc and one for your coupons!

When you visit relatives and hate the taste of the branded cereal in the morning!

When you realise that you haven't had fabric softener in the house for weeks and haven't missed it. (Capful of vinegar in with the washing powder = soft clothes/nappies.)

When you use washable 'feminine items' and they make you feel like a princess!!! :o

When you share money saving tips with friends that a few years ago you shared date stories with.

Gingham Ribbon, what washable "feminine items" do you use, where did you get them and why do you say they make you feel like a princess?!

Considering going over to this kind of thing but may need some convincing...

    Thanks :)
