Can you not say it was stolen? Is there a fee for that option?

On internet banking, choose Stop a Cheque from the menu on the left. It states the following: "There is no charge for blank lost or stolen cheques. For all other cheques there is a charge of £10.00"

    lost cheques are charged for

    stolen cheques are not

tell them your cheque book was stolen and this will resolve the issue of the charge ;-)
