Is this bad service

Let me explain if I may,son had O2 phone ,has been with them years ,large bills and quite happy ,except recently they have got larger and larger (wap usage)

the bill is now that high it is causing real problems ,last few months O2 allowed him to split the bills, making them just about payable

but now it's even higher this month ,he spoke to them and can't find out why/how it's gone so high ,is there anything he can do to find out whats changed about his usage (he can't figure it out)

and why didn't O2 suggest going onto the wap bolt-on when the bills went so high and it was clear he was having difficulty paying

I'm with O2 and they offered me it ,so why not him

any help gratefully recieved

  • It may be worth looking at the phone settings as some phones you can have wap ie GPRS to come on as and when required by user or always on, so maybe his GPRS is connecting to the internet when he thinks it is not. Or has he forgotten to disconnect the connection after viewing web pages.
    Just a thought.

Has he got one of the online PAYG tariffs where he gets 1MB of GPRS WAP on O2 Active free for 30 days after every minimum £10 top up. To check his allowance he texts Balance to 20202 which will show remaining free allowance of texts or calls and how much of the free 1MB browsing allowance is left this will only display if done within 30 days of last top up.
  • I shall pass your info onto him but he has no allowance at all for wap

  • one more question if I may ,are o2 right when they say they can't show him how his wap charges are made up?

  • Sorry I cannot help you with that one.

If he was on Virgin for example, he could check his PAYG calls and texts and WAP via the website as they have online statements for usage.
  • It looks like he is on contract.
If he doesnt receive an itemised bill he should be able to go online to check the usage.
Has he set up Email on the phone.
If he has it may be set to download automaticilly.
  • sorry ,yes I should of said ,he is on a 18month contract and has been happy up until now ,wonder why they didn't offer him the bolt on or free web usage ,then he wouldn't be in such debt just now
