Monthly contracts with set spending limits
I seem to remember a year or 2 ago about a contract that was suitable for kids whereby you could take out a monthly contract but once the call/text allowances had been used up, you then had to top up. This prevented kids running up high bills.
Does anybody know if these contracts are still available?

T-Mobile still do them and they are called U-Fix now.
