My gf and i both have a cat each. We bought them before we moved in together but they're both standard domestic short hairs. Before we moved in together we kept them both indoors in our respective homes for a year before we bought this place with a big garden.
Both cats were fine indoors - just keep them entertained with toys and you could even take them outside on a lead if you wanted.

As for the rescue centre - best place to get a cat. Both ours were from the local pet rescue centre where the girl who worked there could recommend a cat to us. She knew each cat's temperament and bit of history so when we both said we wanted indoor cats and they'd both be the only cat in the house, she could narrow the choice down to a just a few cats who would be suitable. Some cats prefer company, others prefer being outside.

Now that ours have lots of space and a big garden they go exploring everyday but to keep a cat indoors it doesn't have to be any particular breed.

Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!
  • I have just got a Tonkinese kitten ( They come in various coat patterns and colours - I wanted a blue as I already have a blue point Siamese). They are a breed in their own right but origninated from a cross between Siamese and Burmese.

Most breeders I spoke to will only sell a Tonkinese to an indoor home, they love being pampered and don't mind being indoors.

I already have a 5 yr old Siamese and even though I have only had my Tonkinese for 6 days he has settled down and walks around like he owns the place. He loves his cuddles and will spend all day perched on my shoulder if I let him.
