Has anyone any idea how long it takes from applying for DLA on-line to hearing anything from the Benefits Agency. And what the process involves ie Medical Examinations/Interviews etc.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

They'll usually send a confirmation to say they received it within a week, a letter in 8 weeks if they haven't made a decision by then explaining why. More often recently it seems to take longer when they are waiting for letters back from medical proffesionals you see. Decisions I have known in the last few months seem to be quicker but I have known it to take over 5 months.
No interviews as such but more commonly a doctor visiting the home to
assess the claimants mobility and care needs. More common it seems when someone doesn't see someone like a consultant/physio/specialist etc regularly. One day I might be more organised...........

It took 8 weeks for our daughters to be accepted
They wrote to her consultant a couple of times0 -
I have only seen my GP over injuries/disabilities that I had as a result of my work, which over time have got a lot worse, I only realised a few weeks ago that I could claim DLA....I dont know if that makes a difference or not.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0

dla, is more about your limited ability rather than any diagnosis, so if you tell them how your life has been affected and limited, you will only need some basic confirmation from the gp , you need a statement from someone who knows you and your situation.totally debt free:j and mortgage free too 20100

Thank's, when you say knows your situation, does that include a family member or someone independant.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0

I've known family members to complete the section, some who also leave it blank and have been awarded without a problem. I would suggest maybe asking your GP to complete it if that is who you see most often or whoever assists with your care needs. One day I might be more organised...........
