A week cruising in the Carribean

YAY!
I won it eighteen months ago in one of those draws that promise you the earth and deliver nothing...
..so I figured I'd get very short notice (them thinking that I wouldn't be able to take time off from work. Hah!) and also that most people would be couples/families and so wouldn't want to go on their own... and that I wouldn't get my airport of choice - but I could keep my fingers crossed that it wasn't too bad.
So:-
On the 6th August I would depart from Glascow Airport. Yay! You might notice, if you look at my location under my avatar that I live in Sunny Suffolk. Boo!
Hm...
Then I arrive in Toronto before joining the ship in New York. Yay!
Oh, but I have to make my own way to the docks in New York. From Toronto! Boo! AND I'd have to find and pay for overnight accomodation because the ship doesn't sail until the next day.
A week later I have to do the return trip to Toronto and then from Glasgow back home. Oh, and I have just six hours and thirty two minutes to get from New York docks to Toronto airport to meet my flight.
Hm...
So I sail from New York to the Carribean and then sail back to New York - doesn't seem to be a lot of time spare to actually be IN the Carribean does it?
I was determined to take this holiday but due to events beyond my control my safety buffer in the bank got spent recently and my income dropped considerably. I could possibly find enough money to use as pocket money but not enough to cover the two extra round trips and the hotel I'd have to pay for and I'm blowed if I'm going into debt to get there. Nor be on holiday and spend most of my time wondering how the heck I'm going to pay for it. Much as I'd like the trip.
So... I need to win a free trip to Glasgow real quick and another one from Toronto to New York, preferably with a voucher for a hotel there.

Any ideas anyone?

What a b******* Squeaky! Sounds like so much hassle that I doubt anyone ever takes them up on things like this. Also what happens if any of the timings don't work out.. something else to worry about on your relaxing (?) cruise.Torgwen..........

Exactly! They make their money out of the mugs who pay £1.50 per minute to find out what they've won - usally takes five to six minutes... (the small print lets you post to find out - two stamps= (one to send one for the SAE)) and then for the reasons outlined above most people can't possibly take advantage of the holiday they won. Of course - there is an alternative such as buying extra tickest for your partner, or changing the holiday for one in Europe; at a slight extra premium of course.
Even so, I would have been able to go had it not been for the drastic changes to my finances - and I would have gone regardless of the faffing about.
They also would want my credit card details so that they could stiff me for £599 if I later decided that I couldn't possibly do it. Hm. I'm not prepared to say yes now and hope I can stretch money to make it on those terms 'cos I sure as heck don't have £599.
Oh well, it was a nice dream.
