Stove/Fireplace on a budget.

We bought a new build house about 3 years ago, as a newly married couple ... we were very fortunate to get in when we did, as all of a sudden prices rocketed and there would have been no chance of getting a place! However, the house kinda ate up all our dosh, so we had no spare money to try and do it up ... so three years later we've still got concrete floors, a few walls unpainted, and no fireplace!
My wife's visiting a friend this weekend so I want to try and race in a stove/fireplace for when she gets back ... any advice?
Could I put it in myself? Also ... what cost are we talking? Ideally as cheap as possible!! Cheers folks!

You can just get a free-standing electrical one that can be plugged into a normal socket. You can get some really attractive ones that also throw out a lot of heat (I've got my Grandfather's old one that must be 30 yrs old now and is still a current model!)
