Cheap National Trust Car Parking Permit?

Our local coutryside area is now pay to park. We use this frequently to walk the dog and at £1.00 per time it is pricey.
It is national trust and I know that if I pay for membership I will get a car parking sticker. However it seems expensive to me to pay for membership when all I want is to purchase a National Trust Parking Permit.

Does anyone have any experience of this or any ideas please?

thanks

I've heard of a family buying a membership for one child just to get the parking - £14.62 on DD for an under 25 (child? )

    I won't mention Quidco's £20 cashback :D

How come the child got the car parking sticker ????? Also you'd have to put up with their almost unbearably soapy kid's magazine....yeuchhhhh....

I think you can get a single adult membership fairly cheaply anyway (£32.62 for a year with current online offer).

If all you want to do is park and sit in your car, your request is quite reasonable.

However if you wish to walk, take in the scenery and exercise your dog, as well as park; what is unreasonable in asking you to pay towards the upkeep of this whole facility ?

The National Trust runs properties, etc, not car parks.

They have to sort out the upkeep of the car parks too, so........ unless you want to be parked in a bog in a few year's time, maybe you'd better just join!
Annoying that the council (or whoever owned it before, who was letting you park free) sold it to them, though.

If it's the under 25 version (as mentioned in the second post) then they are fully entitled to drive from age 17.
The under 25 price is the same as the other child price.

For an adult the cheapest way to go is to sign up via quidco for £32.62 (this is a direct debit) and then get £20 cashback, so cost is £12.62.

I personally don't have a problem with this because this is using a genuine offer and not exploiting any unintende loophole.
It National trust didn't want people to use the offer. then they shouldn't offer it.
It would be different if people were exploiting a mistake.

Cheers Lisyloo - I hadn't noticed that the children/ young person definition lasted up to 25.
I expect NT are very glad to have as many menbers as possible, for whatever reason they join.
We've had very good value out of our membership fee so far, anyhow - they have had several good family events in our area, such as a murder mystery and a Medieval Festival with people dressed in Robin Hood-like costumes, etc.
The cafes are expensive, but you can always take a picnic, if you can persuade the children that they don't really want gateau slices and Mini Rolls are just as nice really.

(MEMO TO SELF: It is NOT necessary to have a whole box each.)

I paid for a year's membership of the National Trust just so that I could use a carpark at Studland in Dorset. I do visit National Trust properties from time to time as well so I do get benefit from it. If you think that paying a nominal amount for parking is extortionate, get yourself down to Studland in the Summer and you'll soon find out what extortionate means - prices can be as high as £10 to park your car all day, if you are unlucky enough to arrive later in the day, forget parking on the carpark you face a 1.5mile walk from the NT overflow carpark to the beach.

I've heard about the beach at Studland !!! :D:D
  • Are these parking charges compulsory are are we just led to believe they are? How are they enforced and is there an appeals procedure should a fine be received?

You are lucky to pay just £1 we went to Clumber Park and paid £5 on entry, thought it was the full entrance fee but no, it was just for parking!!!!! What a RIP OFF!
As we live abroad it is not worth joining so if we go again I will park outside the car park and walk in.
