IceSave - confirming identity?

Hi,
I've just registered for an IceSave 6 month account.
However, I was unable to validate myself using my drivers licence. My drivers licence is an 8 digit number yet somehow their website seems to be looking for a much longer string.
Do I get a second chance to reaffirm my credentials when I get my log on details or muist I post off the original document to them?
I would send them a copy of my passport but I've got an Irish passport...
Thanks.

I'm not 100% certain, but I would imagine if it failed to accept it on initial application, you'll probably end up having to provide further ID. Have you received a confirmation email from them yet? If not, when you do, it'll probably tell you in that.0

They might be able to do it via the electoral register - it's only if they can't that they go onto the passport/drivers' lic. route. So you may be lucky.0

Their email states:
'Thank you for applying for a Fixed Rate Savings Account
If we did not ask you for any identification documents during your application your account is open!'
Looking back at my application they have indeeed asked me for ID. However, the only item from it I have is a drivers licence.
Why must I send my original drivers licence and paperwork to them yet they only require a copy of the UK passport?
How long will it be until I get my licence back, as I'm doing an Advanced Driving test in the not too distant future?0 -

A Uk driving licence has a 16 character driver number plus a two digit issue number. If yours has eight it is either not a valid UK licence or you have misread it.

Presumably if funkey_monkey has an Irish passport then he/she may also have an Irish driving licence.0 -
Nope, its definitely a UK Drivers licence. The only difference is that its issued by DVLNI as opposed to DVLA as I live in Northern Ireland.
How long will IceSave hold the card before returning it?0 -
I have the same problem (need to send my original id card) and I really wouldn't like that.
I wrote to them asking if I could send certified copies (as I've done with other banks) but haven't received a reply yet, I'll guess I'll call them later.Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -
Is there any other ID you could use instead of a Driving Licence?.....0
-
Nope, not based on the list of acceptable methods presented to me on the website. It's just the Drivers licence.
Interestingly the passport (UK, which I don't have) can be a photocopy, but the drivers licence has to be the original. Why?
I'm not too keen about posting my ID to them though...0 -
Please refer to it as a Driving Licence, please please please. : ).....0
