Another vote for wellies - but if you can, get some which are meant for ladies and have the toe end shaped like normal shoes - they're much more comfortable. No idea where mine came from as I rescued them from the cellar in a fit of desperation. They had been left there by my mum when she left my dad 12 years ago but they're good as new
