Any ideas for sensible gardening shoes.

I have tended to use trainers when I am working in the garden, but they can get very wet and dirty. Any suggestions for more suitable shoes would be helpful.

    Hi

I just wear the last pair of shoes that I've worn out:rotfl:. However, you can buy gardening clogs for £10-£12....;) Wellies when it's really muddy
  • I have a pair of basic walking boots I wear if I am digging etc. If I am just pottering I have a cheapy copy of crocs clogs for just slipping on to go outside

If you intend to do a lot of digging with a full sized fork or spade, the safest things to wear would be steel-toed boots. They can usually be bought from street markets quite reasonably, and are much warmer than wellies as they are properly insulated and you can wear nice thick wooly socks.

My kids call mine welly-shoes, they're like wellies but cut down, you can get slip ons or ordinary, the slip-ons (clogs) are great to keep by the door if you just need to quickly pop out for a carrot or bunch of herbs, the shoes are better for 'proper' gardening, walking dog etc. I love 'em, bought in focus or somewhere similar for less than a tenner, last for ever.

  • I wear my walking boots - I have a weak ankle and if I fell in anything else I could do some damage to it! Theyr'e warmer and comfyer than wellies too :)

Lidl's best rubber gardening clogs -£1.99 and still going strong. Easy to slip 0n and off as you go in and out, and keep your feet reasonably dry (I don't do wet weather gardening, unless really pushed!)
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Crocs! I love 'em- they get dirty, I throw them in the washing machine and come out as new!
