  • I don't know about that seller but from what I've read on various fora (???) Milly and Landy will adapt designs to your specifications so, for instance, if you see different elements in 3 or 4 dresses that make up your one ideal they can put them together for you.
They also have a wide range of colours you can choose from.
    HTH.
I'm sure someone will be along pretty soon who's had first hand experience.

Yes, this is correct. My Milly Dress was made up of about four designs. You need to have specific pictures of what you want to have done. I made up a pdf file of exactly what I wanted, with arrows and text boxes indicating specifics.

Once you've got this together, email it over to them and they can give you a quote. I can't emphasise enough that you need to use short sentences and be very particular about you say, eg, must have 4 buttons. Green velvet for trim. Dress to be made of tafetta with chiffon overlay.

Tell them everything and don't assume anything as English isn't their first language.
  • Thanks for that...do you still have the PDF file so I can have a look?
How much extra did it end up being for a totally bespoke dress?
  • I'll have to hunt around for the pdf. I have a feeling it's at work but if you pm me your email address, I'll send it to you.

I paid £165 for it in the end I think it was and I also got a matching shawl to go with it.

This is how it looked: 2646584013_40b7f1e208.jpg?v=0

    Hello all,
I have been stalking for some time, but now I have some questions. I would love to talk to the girls who ordered custom gowns. From which site? I found about 5 more gown sites from goggleing last night, but which one to use?

I found my dream gown in the US http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=208&sfid=50650&f=
It's $4000 retail!! That's crazy!! I'm afraid that it will not turn out well when copied. How many pictures did you send to the place your ordered your custom gown? Did you get close ups of the gown? My mom and I went to try it on and take close up pictures, but my camera died:-(

Also my wedding is not until May 2010, BUT I live in London and the wedding will take place outside Philadelphia, PA. I will go home 3 times before the wedding, but I feel like I need to have it waiting for me in April, so if it's crap I can get a new one.

    Please help.

    Thanks so much!

    Hello all,

I have been looking at this thread for a while, bought a gown off a chinese seller and been manically checking the tracking for the last few days. It says it has 'Cleared Customs' does this mean that firstly there will be no import tax and secondly do you think it could arrive tomorrow??? If anyone could advise i would be grateful. I am getting married 20th December and I am praying my dress is lovely.

  • I didn't pay any duty at all on my dress. I think it depends what value they put on the import label.

I hope it turns up tomorrow and that you love it as much as I did mine :D
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

I ordered on behalf of my sister in August. Dress arrived in good time fitted perfectly and paid no duty. I can't remember what was written on the customs label. Good Luck don't worry they know what they are doing. If everyone who had their dresses made in China were then hit with a customs bill business would dry up fast.

  • It arrived!!! It arrived!! No import tax at all phew. The dress is perfect, the beading well done and it fits perfectly. I am so surprised and relieved that the dress is perfect. I got a shock when I first opened it, she had given me a free silk hankerchief and I thought the pattern was my dress. Very happy to find out it wasn't. Amazing value for money!
