I got mine from Asapbay on eBay and its absolutely gorgeous - if you've read this thread you will have seen the pics. Mine was £92 with P&P and took about 6 weeks but I did order in January and China has 2 weeks holiday for new year.

I've since found an original of my dress and would have to say I prefer my copy, it fits perfectly and as I'm only 5 2 tall I didn't have to fork out for alterations.

The original had a zip but I wanted a lace up back and the train was made detachable so it took a little longer but its gorgeous - can't wait to wear it on Monday.

Monday! Oooh you must be so excited!
Can I ask (a thread drift I'm afraid!) did you have many guests complain about your wedding being on a weekday?
My s-i-l 2b has a relative who decrees that you only get married in the week if you have something to hide! Saturday is the day you get married!!!
I actually can disagree with this because we also got married on a Monday but that was a fair while ago now and I just wondered if attitudes had changed.

my best friend got married on a thursday so most people took the opportunity of having thurs and friday off (the monday happened to be a bank holiday!!) and everyone was dead chuffed to have a super long weekend.

i find if i dont really know the couple i begrudge spending 50% of my weekend feeling obliged to go to a wedding. doing it on a weekday means to have a perfect excuse for not going if you dont want to but if you do go you can use it to your advantage. therefore i think you get a better quality of guest at a weekday wedding, cuts down on the people there only for the free food!!

Excitement has only crept in in the last couple of days was a bit worried it was never going to happen - lol.

We picked a Monday because the most important bit is our honeymoon and the flight is on a Thursday and we were originally getting married on the Isle of Lewis where the registrar doesn't work at weekends. Nobody has mentioned the Monday being a problem the only people who aren't coming is for other reasons. We also only wanted a small do.

We couldn't afford and didn't want to meet the minimum numbers at our venue for the weekend - think it was 120 for a Saturday and 80 for a Friday and at £60 a head would have been extortionate.

I haven't used this company so can't recommend them but noticed when I did a search for pictures of my dress they came up way cheaper than some of the other shops, for example my dress was £200 cheaper with this company.

I won;t post the link as I might get told off :) but the name of the shop is ribbons and pearls. If I remember correctly they had a massive sale about summer time last year where a lot of the dresses were £200 ish. I know that might be more than some wish to spend but thought I would mention it. It's also worth checking out the sample sales as someone on another wedding site bought a dress for £20 which looked lovely.

I have a question ladies, well those who have bought their dress from ebay. I've got 3 quotes, one from Landy, Milly and Wales Trade.

Did you do your own measurements, or did you get them donw professionally by a seamstress/dressmaker?

After much deliberating, I've decided that I'm definately purchasing my dress from one of these 3 (I need 11, including mine) The quiality and service seems second to none, it's just the measuring I'm concerned about.

Hi i got a seamstress to do my measurements, quite easy to do though with help from a friend, i think she charged £10, she was lovely and did the alterations for my dress when it came and 3 bridesmaid dress also.

I got married on the Thursday, no one moaned, they quite enjoyed it as like tudorfan22 said, mine also took friday off and it fell on the bank holiday.

    Thanks k8te

I may have to get looking for a dressmaker then. I also think it'd be a better idea in the weekend, especially summer hols, but my darling B2b thinks otherwise!

I booked our wedding just 4 weeks before the big day! I bought my wedding dress from e-bay for just £50 , it was from a UK seller (brand new with tags etc with the original price of £250 attached). Luckily it fitted just fine and I was pleased with it.

If I had more time then I would prob. have gone for one of the dresses from China instead, as they do look lovely.

I got my friend to do mine but she makes a lot of her own clothes anyway and it is a perfect fit but that is possibly due to the lace up back.
