    I've ordered this one:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LACE-UP-BACK-PROM-WEDDING-DRESS-GOWN-SIZE-12-14-16-18_W0QQitemZ380025170094QQihZ025QQcategoryZ46512QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

From ebay and it's really good quality, really well made and fits really well. They can do it in any colour you want so I have stuck to my theme of black and red. It was £83 including postage and took about 10 days to arrive.

Love the dress. The detail on the back is beautiful. I so wanted to get married in a black and red wedding dress. Unfortunately my MIL wasn't impressed so i ended up with white one with tiny pink roses. It was 1988.LOL.

I'm in a bit of a quandary - hows about some advice?

I've got a few quotes in for my dress (Mori Lee style 2106) from landy bridal (ASAPaby I think) another chinese factory and a lady in Durham. The prices came in at £105, £135 and £185 (in that order) including shipping. The chinese factories are all pretty vague on how the dress will differ (they both said it will be 'mostly' the same) whereas the Durham shop have shown me pictures of the originals and their versions, and there's very little difference.

So do I go for the more expensive, but possibly closer match plus support a british company, or risk the 'mostly the same' dress from China but pay less? Delivery time from Durham is a bit quicker (only by 1-2 weeks) and as the wedding is 5th July I need to get a wriggle on.

    What do you think?
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500

I have a Mori Lee copy from asapbay and am over the moon with it. Saying that I didn't try the original on as there was no stockist nearby so I can't really say how close it is and I asked for the train to be detachable.

It's really up to you which option you will be happiest with especially as the cost is not really hugely different although £80 is £80.

You sound as though you are swayed towards the one from Durham. Have you contacted any other brides who have bought from them just to make sure?

I just wanted to say, hope you all enjoy your big days, and may the future bring your husbands or future husbands all the best

    Oberon,

I contacted a Landy Bridal buyer yesterday about the Mori Lee dress I mentioned above.

The buyer said that the one she got was pretty similar. The major difference was that there was less beading on the bodice and more on the train. In actual fact, the buyer preferred it this way and is thrilled with her dress. The difference was minimal and there were indeed 'mostly' the same.

As Paddingtontoo says, it depends on if you are looking for an exact replica or if you are willing for a few subtle changes in order to save a bit of extra cash (which would pay for the underskirt or shoes or tiara or...). Only you know the answer to that.

    thanks guys.

On balance I've got with cj in durham - with the wedding so close a uk maker will be easier to deal with if there's a problem, plus I'd like to give business to a uk seller. I was impressed with landy's price, but they avoided givig me a price for making it shorter, so £105 was a guess based on the website.

Yes it's slightly more, but I'll let you all know how it turns out - lead time is 4 weeks max.
