Is there anywhere you could keep the dress hung up for the creases to drop out over the next few months? IME bathroom steaming has never worked but I read somewhere that you can spritz the creases with a little bit of water (Not much or it might leave a water mark) and leave it to hang then they drop out... or if your iron has shot of steam you could hang the dress up and steam it yourself... very carefully...
(another thing you could try if you're really cheeky... My nan works in a charity shop and they have a steamer in the back room to make the clothes more appealing, you could always pop into your local one and ask it you could borrow theirs)
Yes ive seen the charity shop ones, maybe i'll have a word... I have a steam cleaner, was wondering whether to turn the dress inside out and try that??....i'm not a very domesticated woman so have no clue lol :rotfl:

That might work too, best thing to check is that it is clean steam coming out (my iron occaisionally spits out brown water!) and inside out on a small patch somewhere near the bottom would be a good place to start...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Hi Nannis, have no clue about the creases sorry, I have a very creased petticoat that I am hanging at the moment trying to get the creases out of, they have drop slightly over the last week:cool: .
As for dress .................... still no tracking number (sob sob:( ), have emailed landy today to see what the situation is but I know sometimes you don't get one at all (have'nt quite go to the stage yet where I am rocking in the corner chanting dress, dress ............but can feel it coming lol:rotfl: ). Am just hoping that I get it by the weekend. After what everyone had said about it coming in a tiny box I did think about the creasing, so will be taking note if anyone offers some advice, only problem with me is, that we do not have a spare room so I cant just hang it up, will be covered in a wardrobe.0 -
Littlel i have followed others peoples great advice for my underskirt, and using a kettle, worked brilliantly, it's in advice for underskirt (1 of my posts) Was going to use it also for bridesmaid dress, but luckily the dry cleaners near me is quite cheap, just to steam the outfits, and they do it onsite which makes me happier about doing it, dont want my dress to go missing with only 24 days to go!! Your dress will be here soon, it seems like ages ago i was rocking in the corner waiting for it.
As regards to the dress situation, my does need a problem steam/press to make it look neater, and the pleats are where they are meant to be, not where they have ended up from being posted in such a small packet! Is there anywhere else you could take it too to get the best price? Or try the kettle?? x x0 -
i found most of the creases have dropped out of mine - but mine is tulle and organza over satin - will have a look at it tomorrow when I try it on again! :j
One of my neighbours works in a charity shop and is getting married 2 weeks after me so have already scrounged a steamer.
need to find some dress bags now as duvet cover is fine for here but not very chic :rotfl:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Thanks K8te, I am not too worried yet about the petticoat but will try the iron and kettle on it, but I must say i had it in the bathroom for about half an hour with the shower running and this did take some of the creases out, but I would not want to risk this with the dress as I have a small bathroom and would worry about it getting wet.
Nannis that really is alot just for them to steam the dress, maybe you should try a smaller dry cleaners as I would think more do this service.0 -
