  • I hate tax credits so much... basically I told them I'd been kept on permenant at argos the other day. Makes hardly any difference to our overall tax credits but they paid us an extra £68 because I'd updated the details and now have dropped our weekly amount by another £20.
So now I've got £68 to budget with every week. In april they go back up to the usual amount but we're just screwed until then

Well ok not screwed but literally back to square one having no spare money after I get my wages as they're now going to be used in our budget.

i have a right job budgeting weekly as dh gets paid monthly =bills
i get 'paid' weekly different days of the week = living money
so i understand what a pain in the !!!! it is
£20 down is gonna need some thought though .......sorry granny and eggs and all that
  • Well I get my wages on a sat... so going to have to split it over the week I think... we NEED to do a proper food shop this week as have hardly anything that can make a decent meal lol. Also the band agreed to start getting together at our house to get writing our own songs and recording so that'll save us £10 a week in the meantime. :)

Are you going to post another adjusted SOA? I know you don't have much you can tweak, but maybe for a few weeks you can both save on maybe a couple of BodyTone classes or a band practice or 2? Don't forget Easter is 21-24 March - will that affect band practice? Also our local Leisure Centre stops classes when the schools are off - does that happen there?

Don't dash straight out & take the first thing that comes up - it maybe worth tightening your belts for 6 weeks until 31/3 then seeing where you are up to & all the time keep looking for a job for you.

I used to hate the Tax Credits system - it seemed to penalise you for being up-front & telling them of any changes by changing your payments, then every year the amount would adjust because they were taking those changes into account AGAIN

  • thank god we've got some savings.. that's all I can say! Shame we've got the car service on fri and the car tax to pay for by the end of the month oh AND the nursery deposit to pay for!!! Ste gets paid on weds though and child benefit is a week tomorrow so we should be ok with all that.. just need to sort some kind of budget.

  • Hi all. The car went into the garage for it's MOT after getting it's new tyres on Saturday. Expecting the bad news call anytime now!

Just been told I have bad manners by a colleague so not in a good mood - particularly as I was told that by the nippiest sweetie in the box.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
