Mobile phone reception

Before ordering my Orange phone (Motororola V3) I obviuosly checked their coverage maps to ensure I was in a good area for signal.
Imagine my suprise upon activiating my phone to find that in order to get a signal AT ALL, I have to walk three houses down the street towards the mobile mast (less than a mile from my house)
My girlfriend finds this highly amusing as her Nokia 7600 on O2 recives a good signal anywhere on my property.
CPW and Orange have been useless, they just give automated resopnses about coverage being patchy even in good reception areas, whats the point of publishing coverage maps if they then say this !
Is this sufficient grounds for cancelling my contract ?

You have a 14 day period in which you can cancel the contract, give them a call and tell them that you wish to cancel and can they send a courier to pick the phone up.

You will probably get billed for a couple of days line rental and any call you made though.

Hopefully you are within your 14 days as next to their coverage map, they state that it is not guaranteed and other electrical appliances could affect signal.

If you are after your 14 day return period, then it isn't a good enough reason for them to let you cancel, especially as they have stated the above.

The best you could do is ask why if you are only 1 mile away from the mast, that it doesn't work in your house, maybe they will get an engineer out and see if there is a problem.

    Good luck.
