    I've been Money Tipped!
OH had it done about 22 years ago (so I guess things can only have improved) and he had no problems at all. He was at the clinic for about half an hour and then came home. He did walk a bit like John Wayne but said it was not particularly sore. He went to work the next day.
The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie
  • Hubby had this done and was totally amazed how little it hurt him. Hardly took any pain killers ...child birth is defo alot worse:eek:
  • Had this op years ago and was the best thing we ever done. The op itself was over in about 30 mins with another 30 recovery time in the outpatients dept.
Had a little discomfort for 2 or 3 days but if you wear trunks instead of pants with a cotton pad inside them then you'll be fine.
Most embarrassing bit is when you have to take in your sample to the clinic for them to confirm that you are now a jaffa (seedless:D ) they obviously know what you have been doing to produce the sample:o
Hope it goes well for you and I'd say go for it:beer:
  • Had it done 2 years ago now. Marie Stopes clinic in London.

Most things have been covered already, smal injection, a bit of pulling you about down there, not any pain during the procedure, just a bit of discomfort.

Afterwards I have a tip. When they finished they told me to go back outside and put my trousers and shoes back on. I took some loose fitting jogging bottoms, but the shoes were lace ups and the LAST thing you want to be doing is bending down tryiong to put on and then tie up shoes. Take something you can put on your feet without using your hands.

Otherwise I was in quite a bit of discomfort of the following week, so get some strong painkillers just in case. Tight fitting underwear is a must.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
OH had this done about 6 yrs ago. I no sooner had dropped him off than I got a phone call to pick him up as they'd done. No problems - just needed paracetamol for a day or so and then OK. I have also worked in theatres where this is done - there really is nothing to it - I think that the thought of it is worse than what it is. Good luck!
  • Had this done 2 years under a general anesthetic. I originally went to the Doctor's surgery to have it done under a local but found it very painful when he was "manipulating" the area in preparation for the operation. In the end we both agreed that I'd be a more suitable candidate for a general:D

I agree with all the advice in previous posts and, despite my memories of lying stark naked on the operation table with a male doctor and 2 female nurses discussing the operation, I'd say "don't listen to the horror stories". It's a very simple operation.

It will be painful for a while afterwards, make the most of the sympathy from your partner because it doesn't last long (neither the pain nor the sympathy).

To top it all off my surgeon's name was Miss Blade.
  • Hubby had it done about 7/8 years ago.
Due to waiting lists at our local hospital he was sent to a private one for it done and he also had a general anesthetic.
I think he was more traumatised by the male nurse shaving round his bits than the op itself!
He was home later the same day wearing a very fetching 'sling'! Bit like a jock strap!
Within a few days he said he felt more or less back to normal.

All the best, I'm sure you will be fine!

    Thank you Cambridge :D
  • My OH went into a clinic at GP's surgery and had it done. He was back out within the hour. There was a bit of swelling and he had to take painkillers. He rested that night and was back at work the next day. Good luck I am sure you will be fine.

My ex-husband's experience seems to have been a rare one.....he was a bit of a wuss & opted for a general. This was probably a mistake as he would probably have been "manhandled" fair bit more than if he had been awake!

However, he reckoned the worst bit was the infection 3 weeks later - intravenous antibiotics, temp of 104deg, pair of black grapefruit.....need I say more? My reaction was "compared to childbirth I think you got off lightly" :D

I'm not sure if he will be happy with your description of grapefruit! ;)
