Be careful of those signs you see attached to traffic lights with a mobile phone number on as there are some people who buy cars for scrap, take out the bits they want and then dump the rest of the car (sometimes setting it alight) and the last owner of the car gets contacted by the police or fined by the local council.
Therefore if you do have your car scrapped ensure that the company doing it is above board and you get a receipt for the car as if the car later turns up dumped if you have a reciept to say the car had been taken off you its the person or company who collected the car from you which will have to explain themselves.0 -

If you've got a car to scrap take it to a Scrap Metal dealer
They'll weigh it in as mixed scrap
A friend of mine weighed in a Fiesta at Sims Metals in Lincoln and got £120 for it, best offer from a car breaker was £500 -

Not at the moment you won't get knowhere near that. Scrap is down to £50 a ton. My nephew took a car in today and was hardly worth the hassle when they told him it was a fiver a wheel if he never took them off the car lol.0 -

I have a salvage yard in Bolton but pickup across the UK. If anyone is interested in how vehicles are actually scrapped then you may want to check out this site.

Metro took my old car earlier this year, the guy who picked it up explained exactly what I needed to do about contacting the DVLA and they gave me a good price for it. Definitely recommended if you want to get rid of an old car, although as with all mse advice see who'll offer you the best deal firstIt’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
