Opened account in June 2007. I am a teacher, but I don't pay my wages into HSBC. I recently opened a bonus saver to get the £20 quidco cashback as well :j
  • thanks for that. if you don't mind me asking how much do you earn? £4000 is a large credit limit.

Not crazy large though. If you build up a good history and have income to hit the card company targets, you can get up to £ 10,000. Maximum on cards is £ 50,000 I think

  • Although I hadn't actually banked with them for around 3 years....since I graduated from Uni, when I went back to them and opened an a/c because of work, they offered me a £1500 credit card limit despite recent financial problems which have affected my credit score.

    Total - 10762/10762 :)

  • HSBC seem to be very good on relying just on the way you run your current account. which is good to hear.

I would say so - last summer they offered me £5,500 at 0% on purchases for 12 months, I'd never had a credit card before and have banked with them for about 8 years

On a whim, I applied a few days ago even though I haven't had the acc. open for even two months, and have only had one salary payment go in so far. Called up today to check the status of the application...

Agreed. £1000 limit. Paperwork sent out tomorrow.

I think the phrase "Christ on a crutch" is a little too restrained...
  • I've been with the HSBC now for 7 years and found them to v good. And I can talk to a manager on the phone!
