  • I had a good experience with Pixmania. I ordered a Bosch dryer (with discount) for £315 inc delivery. It was delivered within 4 days on a Saturday by Currys. I checked and the identical machine in Currys was over £400! One small point. I got an email saying call after 5pm to check your delivery time. However when I called I was informed that this time should be 9pm. I logged on to the internet instead at 9pm and my delivery slot was shown. I also got a warning call 10 minutes before they arrived. Maybe I was lucky....but I'm glad I saved nearly £100 on a great product.

    I would use again.

Sooo glad I came across this thread! I was just about to order an Ipod classic 80 from Pixmania for my DS's birthday (he says he'd prefer that one to the new classic 120  - something to do with the colour?? And Apple don't do that one any more...) but I'll try and track one down elsewhere now. Thanks for all the warnings!

  • Just to balance some of the negative experiences that some folk have had, I've bought a Canon digital camera and sony camcorder from pixmania without a problem. The instructions that came with them were printed in lots of languages, including English and the plugs were normal 3 pin plugs. Maybe they've got their act together after this time - bit ridiculous for them to have been sending european power plugs to UK customers! They were far and away the cheapest when I was searching.
    Hope that helps!

Pixmania is actually the worst company in the world. My housemate used to work for their customer services department and would come home absolutely drained daily after having to suffer abuse from people because of Pixmania's policies, which she could do very little about. And it costs a fortune to call them! Bad for customers and bad for staff.

If theyre selling to a UK customer base, they should be selling UK product. End of. Sending a camera with a manual in French for my 8 year old daughter, and then refusing to supply an English one, is just not on.

As they are part of DSGi, it shouldnt be a big deal to supply products from the Currys/Dixons/PC World pile, rather than from the French pile.

  • I've used pixmania in 2005, 2006, 2007 and about to use them now - They've never caused me any problem, impeccable delivery.

Everything I've recieved has had european connectors and French manuals, but as I speak French this hasn't been a problem... Most manufacturers supply a manual on the internet in PDF which I tend to look at before trying or buying a product, and I actually prefer using a digital manual as you can search through it a lot faster than using your fingers in pages whilst reading an index. Hey I'm prepared to make those sacrifices if the product's sold cheap

I was really, really surprised to read all the horror stories here! I was actually here looking for promo codes, but good luck to you all, hope your problems get solved.
  • Dammit, why do I never think to check the Forums BEFORE I order something!

Pixmania (via UPS) have just delivered 2 HDTVs - only ordered (& paid for) one!! Placed the order on 26/11 so can't fault them for delivery & it was easy to track online.

However, non-English instruction manual is a pain. I'll try to find one online.

  • I ordered an in stock camera from Pixmania only to find out the next day it was out of stock so I cancelled my order (by 'phone as you cannot cancel online). 5 days later my credit card was charged and an email from Pixmania advised me my (cancelled) camera was on it's way. I 'phoned them & was told not to accept delivery & that I would get a refund. No refund appeared & after 4 'phone calls, 2 unanswered emails, 1 unanswered letter & 27 days + involvement of my credit card co. my refund finally appeared. Avoid at all costs!!!!!!
  • I ordered a Samsung WIFI internet TV dongle from Pixmania, their website showed that they were in stock and would be dispatched within 2-3 days. 5 days later I still hadn't received my purchase, I checked the one and only email I had from them and it showed my item was awaiting dispatch. I called the firm to be told that they were out of stock. I wasn't informed of this by email or phonecall which you would expect, and at the moment their website still shows that they are in stock. I work for an internet based sales firm and if we are out of stock on an item it is noted on the website and should an order still come through for an item that is out of stock we inform the customer ASAP either by email or if a phone number is provided we prefer to talk to the customer.

I requested that the customer services advisor cancel my order, she told me that I had purchesed from one of their internet partners so I could only cancel online. I checked out this information and found the the lady was wrong (as I thought) and I actually purchased from Pixmania. I went online and cancelled the order and have now purchased a new item with Play.com, why didn't I stick with what I know, Play.com are certainly more reliable.

Why do some firms so bad a customer services when others are so much more professional and reliable? Isn't the customer the main priority, or have things changed?

Thats the difference between cheap and value. Presumably you ordered on Pix cos they were cheap. Cant think of any other reason why you would use them. Whereas Richer Sounds is value - great prices, great service. Pix cant be bothered.....it costs them too much to give customer service like you expect.

Presumably you know when it does arrive, the instruction booklet is likely to be in French.........
