As New

that is my bugbear this is almost certainly is someone selling what i am selling,so who is the one trying to manipulate ebay i say its the complainer.I agree with fay actually hanging around other sellers throws up the same questions over and over until we just assume everyone knows all the rules.
There are a great number of rules on ebay and it would be unrealistic to have each and every one pointed out to us before we list something. Even the warning that pops up when sellers try to list 'designer' items asking whether they are real irritates many sellers. It would be far worse to have to go through a 3 page check list to ascertain that sellers comply with each and every t and c before they list a single item.
As a buyer if I am looking for a new copy of say a CD do I really want to be bothered by all and sundry selling their old ones as 'like new'? However as a seller like new would sometimes be a handy title to use, but on balance it is not something that makes a great deal of difference to me and I can easily just list without those terms.
AS for why it was pulled, ebay do not police themselves so someone did report you.
i have now lost 4 watchers, they have been informed by ebay that the item was removed.
i do get the fact that new is new and used is used, but the term as new has and will be used forever more, just not on ebay anymore:rolleyes:0 -
Just gotta figure out the hot current reporting offences

As new isn't one of mine, for the record

Ebay's moronic policy on this matter serves no useful purpose as far as I'm aware. Buyers should know that the more effective way to search for new items is to tick the appropriate Item Specifics box rather than search for "new" in the title. I've never heard of any buyer actually having a problem with the use of phrases like "as new" as an accurate description of an item's condition.
Since eBay evidently do and fail to make this clear to sellers, this is a topic which comes up regularly, so could we perhaps have a sticky thread rather than frequent repeats of the same discussion?0 -
Perhaps a 'Why was my listing removed?' threadMy TV is broken!

That wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe we could have one post per reason so we can just link people to the relevant post.

It is misleading. For the majority of people using this description it means "used a few times/used for a couple of months but is still like when i got it" the problem is, it isn't, you don't notice the slight dulling of a product or slight signs of wear but if compared to an actual new product there are differences so "as new" is misleading.Bought, not Brought0 -
It is misleading.
Even if they are misleading and I'm not convinced they are, Ebay do not remove them for that reason, they are removed because people do not want to find items which are not new when they use NEW in their searches. If it was just because it was misleading you could sell items such as:
Harry Potter DVD, this is not new.
Factually correct and not in any way misleading, but I imagine it falls foul of the rules that Ebay doesn't tell anyone about.0 -
if you are looking for new items but dont want as new items to come up you could always type in whatever your looking for new -as
this would deduct all as new items....work permit granted!0
