I also agree that you need to find the correct one for your baby and I too found that at some stages pampers worked best but otherwise Huggies did.

Out of the 2 I mostly always used Huggies and whilst the shop own brands were very good not many of them were good for overnights in my opinion.

I must have spent a small fortune in nappies through the years for my 5 babies but am over that stage now.

Having said all of that writing this has made me feel very broody again.

Enjoy your little one as they grow up too quickly.

can i echo the poster about reusables. I have used washables on my son since birth (he's now 10 months) and have never had a leak.

    Worth considering.

I did from time to time use reusables but found that after a certain age these can be bothersome if the child works out how to get them off. Therefore I did return to using disposables at times.

My last boy hated thewashable ones with avengance.

It did bother me and I am a devoted recycler so I hope my efforts evened out somewhere along the line.

It is worth looking at the ones in Lidl. We use washables but if I do need to use disposables then I prefer the Lidl ones - good quality and good prices too. We get very few leaks and I wish they had them in early baby size as we could have done with them when my son was born.

I totally agree, lidl ones are great but only from 9lb up

  • Congratulations!!! We found that we had to use a size bigger than we were supposed to (of any brand, but Asda George ones were really good!) and sometimes their little peepees are a bit too short to stick down properly!!

  • Here's a moneysaving idea - whizz into the baby change at your local Boots (if they have one) - they usually have a selection of nappies in there - handy for sizing trials - but don't abuse it by taking 3 dozen obviously.

my youngest is 11 months and while in cloth during the day is in dis at night. she sleeps a good 12+ hours. i have tried huggies, pampers and they are both two short and she ends up with a builders bum thing going on. did not happen with the other two though. since having the 3rd i have been a little short on the cash front and have tried adsa drand and have found them A. alot cheaper and B. no builders bum. so no leaks. dont you think thats real nasty when its not just a wee and it has come out all up the shoulders first thing in the morning before you have opened your eyes??

An excellent plan for disposable trials. Our Boots only give away Boots nappies, but I think all the supermarkets have signs in their baby changing rooms telling you to ask at CS if you would like a nappy for your baby. You'll get to try a whole range then. M+S also do I think, as do Debenhams...and Road Chef service areas off the motorway.

ooh, just found out my local council do a weeks hire of a range of reuseables for free.

And, due to the huge land fill problem the council is trying to combat, babies now leave the delivery suite wearing a reusable and if the new parents choose to use disposables in hospital, they have to dispose of them somewhere that isn't the hospital.

Maybe I should post this on the freebies board?! Have a baby-get a free reuseable nappy.
