Just had a new arrival but am finding he is waking with a wet back!!! Tried a couple of nappies for him, with all the same results. Any recomendations so the poor man wakes up dry??? He is 8.3 pounds. Thanks.

congrats on the arrival.
we found pampers worked best for our newborn, but it really is a matter of trial and error due to differing size of baby thighs (chubby cute thighs), baby waists (prime for tickling) and their bellies(perfect for kissing). So if you find one that works, stick with it, but one of them will fit your bundle.
Want another newborn now...where's OH?!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

we found huggies best for our son. guess, like last post, it's down to trial and error. with a boy, remember to position 'him' pointing down, or wee comes back over the waistband.
we also put ours to sleep in his crib, with a sheet, and then a spare sheet folded over the top of the fitted sheet, so if he was wet/leaky, we didn't have to change the bed in the middle of the night.
good luck.....2 years later he still sometimes wakes up wet, or he undoes his own nappy. come on potty training.

Thanks for you kind words and good advice. Off to Tesco's tonight me thinks, does anyone do a sample pack of differant nappies to try.......???I say what I like, I like what I say!0

we used Pampers newborn at first (9lb2oz) but once he got past newborn sizes we found they were leakingand had to switch to huggies. All very trial and error really and giventhe pack sizes it is a bit of a shame there are no trials.0

I like the previous thread found Pampers great for the first few months, and from 6 months onwards Huggies.
Although having said that I only use them for night time. During the day he goes in Tesco own, which are fantastic!
I ensured I always got the flexible design, the ones with elasticated looking sides, i.e. not the Baby Dry ones pampers do, but the active fit.
Don't even bother trying Boots own, they may as well not be wearing anything!!
If you have the Bounty Pack which you got the voucher for at the hospital you might find they have a sample pack. Alternatively log on to Pampers and Huggies websites and register with them and they tend to send money off vouchers.
Also worth registering on all the supermarket websites, Tesco and Sainsbury I think Boots do one as well for their baby clubs to get even more offers.
Hth and congratulations. The first few months with your first baby are so incredibly precious, enjoy every minute if you can, forget the housework and just enjoy one another!0 -
dont forget to register with pampers http://uk.pampers.com/en_GB/signup.do;jsessionid=DTXK4VVTFNCIXQFIAJ0X0MQ and they will send you £4 worth of coupons. they keep sending them at different times too so very useful. dont think i've paid full price for nappies and my son is 20

Counting _Pennies interesting isn't it? I now use Boots at nights as they are the best for my boy.
Towner- I don't know if anyone does a sample pack of disposable nappies to try, but I know they do trials for reuseable nappies. Here's a link to one of the many sites that offer a trial for reuseables, though I'm sure a search on this website will come up with many more companies who also offer this service.

Hi,
Congrats on the new arrival, I'm so envious.
Well it's been 4 years but on the subject of sample packs they used to do them at toys r us but only for their own brand.

At nights we used to use tesco value ones and found them just the ticket. He's too big for them now. :-/May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

It is worth looking at the ones in Lidl. We use washables but if I do need to use disposables then I prefer the Lidl ones - good quality and good prices too. We get very few leaks and I wish they had them in early baby size as we could have done with them when my son was born.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
