  • How much ram do you have?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • albertross I have 2Gb of ram. Running Windows xp home, sp2. Athlon 4800x2. Plenty of hard disk space..

mpg/Penrhyn I'm sure, actually I know it's Norton. On start up the Norton icon is the last one to appear in the system tray and until it does, anything I do is sluggish. Several months ago I had to re format and even back then with a clean system, I'm sure once Norton was re installed, start ups & shutdown times increased.

PS Probably is all the !!!!!! out there that the Norton product lets though :D

I used the 30 day trial version of Kaspersky IS and it made my pc run slow (possibly my pc is a bit too old). Ended up going for Eset Smart Security, really impressed with it. It's very light on resources and uses Esets NOD32 anti-virus which, along with Kaspersky, is considered to be one of the best AVs around.

However, it's not cheap. I think it cost me £40 for the year but I think it's worth it.
