Kaspersky Internet Security users.. advice needed

Hey everyone

I've not long re-subscribed (£40) to Norton Internet Security and you know what, IT STILL SUCKS. It's a system resource hogging wh*re! Or something like that. I want a divorce!! I'm really sick to death of waiting five minutes for the damn thing to settle down on start up so I can do something with my PC

I dug out a few PC mags and found a few Internet Security product comparison. Kaspersky Internet Security pretty much gets a thumbs up - but nowhere in the reviews did it mention the things that Norton gets slagged off for (eg slooow start ups, shutdowns and general slowdowns). So what's it like?

£25 from the Kaspersky's site
£20 from Staganos (which magazines are saying is just Kaspersky rebaged)

I think I'm ready to move..

Thanks for your time :)

Why don't you try one of the free ones? AVG free edition for example, there is a sticky elsewhere round the site for this and others.
I found it cheaper to buy NIS 2008 than resubscribe to Norton this year.
It might be worth uninstalling Norton with the Norton Removal Tool,(google for a link) and then try reinstalling it.
Are you sure its Norton slowing down your startup and not other programs?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Using Avast and Comodo here and X-fingers so far so good. XP seems to run. I've right-graded OH's to match and we're running OK.

I can heartily recommend Kaspersky, I got fed up with both Norton and McCafee as they really slowed things down.

You can get Kasperksy from Scan.co.uk, Internet Security 7 is only £11.50 if you're okay going OEM. It's regularly on their 'deal of the day' too for even more savings.

If you use a free a/virus prog you can still do a free online scan with kaspersky.

The only problem I had with KIS 7 was that it blocked the Internet Access to my Opera browser. That was a little annoying.

Using Zone Alarm now. KIS 7 was good, but I had to uninstall it because of the Opera problem.

    May not affect all configurations.

I've been using the free www.comodo.com suite of:

    Firewall
    Antivirus
    Malware etc....

for some time now and have had no problems.

I frequently check for spyware using Spybot, Ad aware etc...

I also use other free online scanners and have used the Kapersky free online scan, but after the scan it would not remove, disinfect etc... unless I subscribed, i.e pay.

Thanks for taking time to reply guys.

I know I could try one of the free ones, but I'm not sure how they would cope under the pressure of visiting all those dodgy wares sites I (cough) occassionally visit.

I found another thread about Kaspersky on this site where you can get a huge discount by visiting their site and entering 'WHSMITH' into a promotions box. Will check out your link too Pearly. Thanks everyone :)

It wont be Norton slowing the machine down more likely to be all the virus`s spyware and malware that Norton let through:D
