Hubby wants a 6 foot bed after having one on our last holiday.

We have a Sealy pillow top memory foam pocket sprung mattress, with a sprung base.

I tried a Tempur bed out at a local department store, I though it was fab. I bought a pillow £72!

The sales man advised me to get the Tempur mattress but a cheaper base, say a £300 Myres one as he said as they are hard topped they are all the same really.
    Want one that doesn't squeak:o

    Anyone got a Tempur?
What do you think of it?

Don't mean to sound rude, but I'm not after opinions from people who think they are a rip off brand name & I could buy cheaper from XYZ & who would never dream of buying one, just owners or users please.

What about the adverts you see in the paper and on Tv for tempur, you can try one out for 30 days and they will collect it again if you decide you don't like it. Worth looking into if you are not sure.

    Save your money!!!

You can get a far better mattress for much less money than a Tempur (remember they came bottom in the Which magazine report).

You Sealy mattress sould give you better support than the Tempur, and won't make you as hot.

The best memory foam option for support is the pocket sprung/memory foam option.
  • Well, we just won a Tempur mattress in a radio competition, the 22cm DeLuxe model. They aren't including a base though, so I was considering knocking up a base myself. I reckon 4x4 for the sides and top/bottom, with 22mm ply on the top to form the firmness required would do the job, for a fraction of the price of a new base. Is there any reason this would not work?

Tempur mattress is bit expensive but if you can afford, I would recommand. I bought the mattress for first time and initally not sure and it takes bit time to use to it. It works well now.

I got a Kaymed bit cheaper (was about 1.5k) & is FANTASTIC - better than the Tempur from my shop tests.
  • Pinky, the thread may be old, but it's relevant to what I wanted to ask. Figured it was a waste to start a new thread.

Vijay and Mrs E, we're not buying it, no way we could pay their prices, my girlfriend won it in a radio competition. I was just wondering if anyone knew any reason my idea of a budget base would not work.

Your budget base will be fine, as long as the matt has a good flat surface to sit on.

I rate these memory foam mattresses but cannot get comfortable with the foam pillows, we've tried several.
    Is it just me?;)
