Anyone got a Tempur bed?

Hubby wants a 6 foot bed after having one on our last holiday.

We have a Sealy pillow top memory foam pocket sprung mattress, with a sprung base.

I tried a Tempur bed out at a local department store, I though it was fab. I bought a pillow £72!

The sales man advised me to get the Tempur mattress but a cheaper base, say a £300 Myres one as he said as they are hard topped they are all the same really.
Want one that doesn't squeak:o

Anyone got a Tempur?
What do you think of it?

Don't mean to sound rude, but I'm not after opinions from people who think they are a rip off brand name & I could buy cheaper from XYZ & who would never dream of buying one, just owners or users please.

We have a mattress with a cheaper base and it's great. Just remember the golden rule to turn it, they say you do't have to but it does help keep it comfortable over a long time.
Oh and a mattress protector, more than the one which is on it, ideally cotton otherwise it can be a little too warm in summer.

Obsessing about remortgaging and interest rates all day, every day:)

My only problem with these mattresses is that they are so hot - I wake up in the middle of the night really sweaty. I don't think I would get one again due to this, but they are very comfy.

I'm a cold person, I love the heat, I don't think that would be a problem, lol.

    Thanks

    Hiya

I spent months deciding what to buy and went for a Tempur matress and pillow. V. expensive but such a nice sleep :):)

Love it :) Though from my research I found opinions differed!

In the end I spent a long time visiting bed shops and lieing on matresses for ages and the decided on which I found the most comfortable :)

I thought you couldn't turn a Tempur mattress because the foam was only on one side of it. I might be mistaken though.

Have had a tempur mattress (and pillows) on a standard bedbase for about 5 years now.

They are initially cold when you first get into bed but quickly get warm. I find it very comfortable and get a good nights sleep.

I don't turn the mattress as advised by tempura.

By the way ensure you shop around as they vary in price quite a bit. Got mine from a firm in Kingsbridge (Devon) and they threw in the pillows for free, delivered it, unpacked it, put it on the bed and took the old mattress away!

    Good luck!
  • We have had a tempur 20cm mattress on a cheaper base for 4 years now and I would thoroughly recommend them, although they do take a few nights to get used to. They do get warm, but I only use a throw or 3 tog duvet on ours (in the coldest of weathers). To be honest I really miss it when we go on holiday and we use an ordinary mattress.

I once slept on one for a fortnight during a heatwave. I can do no better than describe it as sleeping on the hot coals of Hell. If you're a cold mortal you may be OK, but men who seem to retain lots of their body heat and women in the stage of having hot flushes will probably bitterly regret their purchase. Comfortable yes, but would I buy one? NO !
