Well your outgoings are .... £890 so only if you were to cut the savings for a bit or work overtime. Good to aim high though :)

  • As I said, more often than not I get more than the amount I posted per month through Overtime / Bank Holidays etc.

Also, I maybe moving places of work soon, so will definatly save on Diesel as it's only 10 minutes down the road!

Forgot to add earlier, that I've stalled paying the £250 per month until May, so I can focus on paying the Credit Card off. Once that's been paid off, I'd like to increase the monthly payments to Grandparents. One good thing is, they want me to put all the money into a Premium bonds account.
I'll pay off as much as I can per month...that way fingers crossed, it'll be gone before May?

Is that a good estimate do you think?

    Simon =)

I for one think your a star, at only 20 you have realised that you need to cut back before things get out of hand, good for you. You will (and already have) get some great advice on here. Good luck
PS I wish I had grandparents like yours!! lol (but there again i would probably be rubbish and spend more then)

  • I've decided to try and pay off at least £500 a month on my credit card....do you think I'll have the budget to do that?

    Again, cheers for the help!

    Hi simon...

your debt curently stands at £2100 on your cerdit card. If you did pay in £500+ per month (starting this month) yes i can see you paying it off by may. I

think you are in a very good position ~ 1) you have had your lbm young 2) everything except your cc is 0% 3) you live at home 4) you have small outgoings. As long as you stay away from the casinos and you make sure you pay off that £500+ each month off you credit card come may you can look at paying of your grandparents/pc world faster.

Also even though you can get overtime dont solely allow for that in debt repayments. Use this board and try and up your income be it ebay/daily clicks/free bingo (i have a guide produced by me if you want it) but please dont gamble beyond this. Also your soa is missing a few things (which i guess is what the excess is going on) things like car tax/birthdays/mothers day 2nd march ;)/christmas etc etc. I suggest you keep a spending diary of what you actually spend this month or for a week and see where it goes. The morning paper/drink soon add up. Once you know what you are spending you can change your habits. It will be hard but the rewards are great.

Good luck in your quest and i shall be following your progress.
  • Again, thank you for all of the replies!

I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now, I'll just have to live low fora few months and maybe skip the weekly outing to the Club's down Sarf' End for a while!

Thank you! Grandparents are super, they only intervened though when I was accepted to get a Car loan with a stupid APR, luckily they helped me out because I could be in more of a mess than I am in today!

I've done a few of the daily clicks / free bingo sites - and I won a fair bit. Unfortunately most of them now reject my application, I think my Debt card has been blocked.

As for the Casino, I totally agree - however I'm paying one more visit next weekend for my Birthday (live a little?!) with my friends and colleagues from work. Please don't hurt me! ;)

Luckily, Car tax is only £35 a year (Diesel Power!). Do you have a template that I may use for a spending diary? I don't really know where to start!

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Hi simon... there is an online one here but i tend to use a notbook or the back of one of my reciepts. Also there is a daily spends thread on here where you confess your spends that day ~ todays is here. Alongside that i do a weekly pledge that you can take part in, a type of challenge to spend less that week ~ this weeks can be found here.
  • Brilliant, will take a look tonight!

Hey Simon, I don't really know anything about most of this stuff and can't be helpful like all of the other people, but I just wanted to say hi and to wish you good luck!
You sound like you have your head screwed on and I hope you have a good birthday - maybe you'll be lucky at the casino, but also maybe you could just take cash with you? or if you're allready a member of some places they may have sent you offers in their mailshots? I once got like, a free bottle of wine/drinks (i cant remember) coupon, and a matched bet thing from the circus casino I think. You could look out for them?!
Nice to kinda meet you.. lol

  • Hi Tink,

Yes, I'll certainly enjoy my birthday, excuse to let my hair down - plus, if I get this job I'll be celebrating for two reasons! Don't get offers in hte post, but will certainly leave the Card's at home, will spend as little as possible.

I'm going to do this properly this time!

    Simon.
  • Can someone recommend an on-line savings account, where I can deposit money, but can't withdraw?

I've decided this is going to be my progress thread.....!
