Getting out of debt is easy .. do it the HPC way!

Now as my username suggests, hubby and I do have alot of debt and we're not blaming anyone for the situation we find ourselves in, other than us.
Fortunately, we are in a position to service that debt and since coming onto this site I've become alot more money savvy inorder to settle that debt more quickly.
I'm sure that alot of people come onto this site wanting help and advice.....I'm sure they realise that they've been silly and to have the proverbal rubbed in their face really isn't helping them.
I have told all that would listen about this site .....and those that have taken the time to visit it have all commented on what a great site this is......friends have been amazed how by making little changes can save ££££s either to service debt quicker or simply to save it.
I think that the title of the programme was a little ill advised .......but if the posters on that other website had taken the time and trouble to read the blurb fully I don't think there would be half as much venom - but there again I don't think the venom was justified any way.
Just my personal take.2014 Target;

So am i but then wouldn't expect a nice post to come form Dellboypass anyway. Lot of anger in there and bitterness that needs adressing :mad:0 -
delboypass wrote:you people get insulted far too easily. Im starting to think you are all sitting at home wrapped in cotton wool and bubble wrap looked after by the nanny state.
'You People' is only a term to reference multiple people who have excessed on credit cards including many people not on this forum. of course everyone is not included in this statement as many people such as myself are here to help people out.. Wake up a little bit and read the real message about how everyone is affected by cheap credit which was the point i was making.
But you DON'T help people on here, you just hurt and insult them.0 -
Please can we leave this here? I have posted more than once that this board is for support for people who want to deal with debt, not a board to have a slanging match.
Thank You..0 -
Yes DelBoy, stop critisiczing people. It is the a banks that are to blame for lending them the money when they asked.0

SO if i shot someone, it is the gunmakers fault or if i run someone over in a car, it is the manufacturers fault??
OK so companies arent blameless but i think people also have to admit up to their own problems. If they said NO im pretty sure they wouldnt be in the same circumstances.0 -
delboy, do you not get bored of being a numpty0

If the gunmakers sent you unsolicited loaded weopons, or car makers sent cars with accelators hidden in the boot jammed on full throttle, then yes it is mainly their fault. OK you still have to pick up the gun point and shoot / get in a defective car, but we all know some people would do it and so the the banks.

Surely the fault lies with chronic lack of education amongst the masses.
I'm not a dumb person, but I really am quite ignorant when it comes to finances.
If the general public as a whole were educated about personal finance throughout their formative years then we wouldn't have so much need for:
Sub prime lenders
Accountants
Mortgage brokers
Estate Agents
And wouldn't the world be a happier place then? But then, the government would have to actually act rather than bribe us every four years with bogus tax cuts.
I think the reason people often slip into debt is that they think they're richer than they really are. Income tax hasn't gone up, but so many other things have - petrol, council tax, property, booze/fags. And yet wages aren't matching these huge increases.
If we all sat down and made proper budgets many of us would be shocked at how, in the last 8 years, we've actually become poorer.0 -
