ceridwen - like that idea, free standing coat stand...........don't think I'd have room but I wonder if I could get OH to make me a sort of Clothes Peg shelf...........the sort with a shelf along the top for bags and then a bit below with wooden pegs on for the rest of my bags......(yes, I do have more than a few....lol) Must have a quiet word in his ear later....................lol
He might be more than willing...........he does get a bit fed up with them either being on the floor or me having a sort of panic attack if I can't find a particular one.................lol

Must admit bags are a weakness with me (my kids always said I'll be known as 'the bag lady' when I get old -er!) but I do get them from charity shops (as I do most things) so they never cost a lot.

  • I have an acquaintance who has a handbag room in her house! it is shelved all way round and has a cube for each bag. plus a standalone bit for evening bags!

And she isn't loaded or anything! she just loves her bags

I love pretty, delicate evening bags. I hang them on picture hooks in the spare room, instead of pictures.

    Oooh i love handbags!
I can't resist monsoon & river island bags and if i see one I have to have it.I keep mine in plastic boxes, on hooks in the bedroom and on a coat stand-I have some that have never been used but were too nice not to buy iykwim.
I keep the monsoon bags which are usually covered with beads ands embellishments in wilko clear storage boxes protected by layers of tissue paper and fragranced paper.Going out bags are all hung up on hooks and my favourite designer bags are all stored inside my wardrobe in their dustbags.I keep all original tags and never keep makeup in bags unless it is in a makeup bag.I also keep a notebook which is updated whenever I buy a new bag with details of colour style etc and where the bag is kept.I currently have my eye on 3 new bags, a snakeskin style from river island, a gorgeous radley in peach orange and a gucci which I will have to wait a little while for.I do sell some bags on when i know I will no longer use them but that is rare and I have been known to sell and then regret and buy the same bag all over again!

I have an everyday handbag, a really nice black leather handbag and a dark pink silk handbag my dd brought me from Thailand and which I haven't used yet.

I keep my leather bags in soft cotton bags, it protects them, but can't see them.

how about using a one of the those multi hangers for skirts with clips?

I thought this thread was about how to organise the contents of handbags. I made the mistake of using a huge over the shoulder bag, and it ends up being a hefty sack stuffed with everything and I can't find anything !
  • Me too blue-kat. My DD calls my handbag the tardis cos of my Dr who ring tone on the mobile that I can never find before it goes off, and embarrasses me in a bus or shopfull of people. It also weighs a ton. the bag that is, not my mobile. It is full of useful things though like a screwdriver a retractable tape measure and a roll of sellotape amongst other things. That is so when I need them I know where they are and don't have to search the kids rooms for them. Sometimes if I am going shopping I just take the purse out with me.
Back to the original question. Top shelf of my wardrobe and I use one bag till it's worn out except if I am going somewhere special.

I have no idea what we'll do when we go on holiday but.....all my spare ones (apart from the 4 I currently use which are in the bottom of the wardrobe) are in suitcases under my bed, suppose they'd just have to live on the bed until we got back :o
One day I might be more organised...........

  • I am pleased there are so many people out there with just as much a handbag 'fetish' as I have....

Tommorrow I am going to get all my bags out of hiding and start off by cleaning them!.

I would love a 'handbag' room - but don't think my OH would let me get away with that - and then he would find out how many I actually have!!.

I have done the same as Sonee2405 and kept evening bags with beads etc in clear plastic shoe boxed - so they are kept nice - but I struggle with my 'big' day bags..

Sonee2405 - would you mind telling me where I can get scented tissue paper - that sounds like a great idea!

I might have to start a 'bag notebook' now!! - which is a great excuse to feed my other obsession - Stationary ;-).

I am looking forward to my 'bag organising' Sunday - Thanks all for some great advice and tips.

Hi stockcount!-Do you like paperchase stationary!Lol another one of my obsessions.I usually pick up scented paper from superdrug or m&s during xmas sales and it does the job perfectly. It's usually available in gift sections most times of the year anyway-otherwise spritz normal paper with a nice room spray or perfume like I tend to do!I did find fruit scented tissue once from a stationary store so you have to keep an eye out.I keep the little sachets you get in new handbags too which are also protective incase I forget to use a bag or if it is not in use for a while(make sure children are not able to get their hands on it though).Cellophane is good too if you can get it cheap for your expensive bags.Have you a tie rack store nearby-Last year a lovely sa from there gave me a couple of the giftbags they have when i did a big shop in the sales which were really useful for storing evening bags in.No harm in asking.Hope you enjoy your bag organising sunday-Can we do pictures and show each other our collections!I love this thread.
