I've been Money Tipped!
I'm awaiting a Flex Account card and PIN, hopefully by next Wednesday, fingers crossed everyone. Also waiting on a Jansport bag and a jacket from Lands End, doubly fingers crossed. Had flowers sent by my ex fiance stolen one time by the courier, robbing git. I was in when they claimed they were delivered, made up some story claiming I came out and asked if the flowers were for me etc, I'm like I didn't even know I was getting them, didn't have a crystal ball that day. He claimed he did deliver, !!!!!!. My ex called the company and asked them to fax the signature slip for the delivery and he said it wasn't my signature, someone forged it and pinched the flowers. I was fuming. The very same courier company tried to pilfer a top notch Minolta camera which I had sent to be repaired and when it was returned, I wasn't in. I went to collect it and I sat waiting for them to find the parcel for over an hour. My brother has had stuff from Lands End pilfered by them too. They are a company that are used by the majority of businesses in our area, pity they are crap.

What I don't understand is, when I returned my ex's ring to him via courier, he wanted it sent back to where he bought it in the States (he lives in Germany) so I had to send it by FEDEX to Florida, what a nightmare, no one would accept it because of the value, diamond solitaire engagement ring, and I was worried it would get stolen, sat up tracking the thing to make sure it got to the place in St Petersburg, although I did panic when it got delayed at some FEDEX hub on the way there. It arrived fine even although everything is marked on the forms etc stating the contents, value, etc etc. How can a high value item like that go FEDEX thousands of miles to the States without a hitch whereas umpteem things that I have sent or have been sent go astray when travelling only a few hundred miles or less sometimes, and to add insult to injury you pay extra insurance, special delivery etc etc for it to arrive safely.

I've had problems with couriers too.

If I wasn't in, White Arrow used to throw goods over a 6ft fence into my back garden. However on the other side of the fence was a run with 2 border collies in, who presumably barked like mad every time he did it, and had chewed the parcels by the time I got in

I had a Kays catalogue who sell clothes "ready to wear", and they come on a hanger in a suit bag. If I wasn't in, their courier would roll the clothes up as tight as he could and stuff them through the letter box. I got fed up coming home to a crumpled mess of an item, so I closed my account with them

DHL tried to deliver a parcel but I wasn't in, so they left a card telling me to phone them. I phoned to rearrange delivery, but they didn't know where the parcel was. The man phoned me back and said he'd found the parcel and he would definitely deliver it the following day. About 30 mins later, my neighbour knocked on the door with the said parcel as it had been left at her house

I think they all have good and bad issues, and can't see improvements once it's opened up to be honest.
Here I go again on my own....

Our usual postie is brill. He puts cards through the door if we aren't in but pops back later "just to see if you were back" and delivers the parcel.

Unfortunately he's not here this week. On Tuesday someone posted a video through the letter box obviously it had gone to the wrong house. Yesterday we had about 12 letters which is highly unusual. 10 were for our next door neighbour and 2 were for a completly different street.

My other next door neighbour came home and delivered our mail which included 3 birthday cards for me. I was fuming. I am going to hang around this morning to see if I can catch postie and ask him if he has the ability to read!

I've had major problems with couriers, two of my parcels from Boots disappeared on route. When I called Boots they eventually just said they are aware of a large level of theft in my area from this particular courier.

I also lost a 5ft sword from another courier, it was from a small independent company who could ill afford the time to sort out the loss. The sword company delivered another one to me and were last heard threatening to go round to the courier department and search the place themselves as they were so cross.

As for the post office don't even go there, I am now of first name terms with the main office having made so many complaints.

If we have trouble here in Shetland it is only ever couriers. I have had to make in the past about 6 phone calls to find out where the parcel was - having checked the tracking which claimed it was delivered. It had been delievered - to the Aberdeen depot! And it took over a week to get from Aberdeen up here - funny, cos I can get up in 12 hours on the boat...

If you want to send something to Shetland, for both cost and reliability, go for Royal Mail EVERY time. It is going to be hell for us when they no longer are soley responsible - I dread to think what the costs for sending to and from Shetland (and Orkney, Western Isles etc) will be.

Despite my previous post I think the Post office does pretty well .

Considering the number of staff they employ it is a shame a 'few' spoil the image of such a large company.

Can we really expet them to vet all staff they employ (imagine the number of staff employed over xmas on short term contracts)?

I've had a parcel sent 48 hour delivery, which should have been signed by me. Well postie shoved it through the letter box, crammed it through eventually. Item was slightly damaged. I never signed for it, but he probably figured if it was through the letterbox it would be ok. No matter that it damaged the goods inside. Checked the status online and said it was delivered, yes but not in perfect condition.

Wonder if you live up our road? Our normal postie is off too, he's a real sweetie and we dont have problems with him or even the local sorting office. It's just posting letters and then they disappear somewhere into the ether that seems to be the problem...

I just pop in now and then.... :)

DHL are certainly a company to avoid.

A couple of months ago I purchased a new PC on Ebay and the transaction went smoothly and was told it would be delivered by DHL in 1-2 days.

Go forward a couple of days and I asked the seller where it was. She contacted them and it transpires they tried to deliver it to the same address in another town, without bothering to check the postcode.

The seller contacted me saying DHL tried to deliver the parcel but there was no-one there by that name. This is correct since they tried to deliver it to the art gallery next door.

Getting slightly annoyed at DHL's love of reading "Mark Thatcher's Guide to Geography", the third and final attempt was made to deliver the PC. At the newsagents across the road which I didn't realise had been there for two days until I contacted the seller and she told me.

The PC was unharmed and works fine, the opposite of my opinion concerning DHL...
