Royal Mail Lying Delivery

Liar, Liar, pants on fire. Or at least they will be if I ever catch the lying toad who was supposed to deliver my phone.
Took out a new contract on Moday and they sent my phone Royal Mail Special Delivery for next day delivery. Well lo and behold nothing turns up.
Call them up and give them the tracking number after calling the phone peopel and getting it from them. "Oh no Sir" they say. Delivery was attempted but there was no-one there and and a note was left and the item returned to the depot.
You lying liar son of a liar (I think you can see where I'm going with this) I was home all day, no-one turned up and no note was left. Unfortunately without videoing my front door to prove it they don't care. Can I complain? No. They'll make a note of it but I can't find out what if anything will be done.

Liar part 2:
No they say they arrange for it to be re-delivered (don't you have to actually try once first for it to be a re-delivery) as soon as possible. Will that be next day I ask. Yes they say.
Next day - you guessed it - nothing.
Call them back and blow me down it wasn't set for redelivery. "Oh no Sir" they say. We send an email to the depot and when they get it they have 48 hours to decide what to do. 48HOURS!!?? On next day delivery?
Can I complain about the second lying toad who claime dto arrange the redlivery? "Oh no Sir" but we'll make a note of it.

What the hell is going on here? Start up a next day delivery service and then just claim you tried to deliver it and there was no-one there. That way you don't have to refund the postage like you say you will if it's not delivered on time.

Just wait until the lazy, shifty lying toad tries to deliver it tomorrow. Or the next day. Or when they decide to get around to it.

    had a similar thing happen:

caught the postman filling out the 'you were not in form' before entering my garden, when I asked him for the item he said I would have to wait as it was locked in a post box round the corner.

More recently I have had a credit card and DVD (rental) disappear from the post , both sent the same day. On contact with the post office I was asked for proof of postage otherwise 'nothing could be done'.

Meanwhile, parcelforce tend to leave parcels under my car when no one answers the door,... hardly a safe place !!

We've had our post delivered to other houses. These days I tend to get things delivered to work where I know for certain that someone will sign and accept it.

Ohhh - dont get me started on the imbecility (is that even a word or did I just make it up?) of the RM - so much mail gets done wrong for us! Again yesterday, we didnt have a delivery, todays is today and yesterdays. Im expecting a CC in the post this week, but im not expecting it to arrive tbh, im expecting it to get stolen and maxed out. If I dont have ut by next monday, ill be calling them to get it cancelled, as they assured me I would have it within 5 (by friday) and if nothing in 7 days, call them.

You'd think they would employ decent staff, credit check and criminal check them, and have better security. I wish we had decent posties..

Anyone who saw the Dispatches documentary on RM last week will not be surprised....

When are the powers that be going to give RM a kick up the backside? Maybe it's about time us consumers started some sort of campaign to make them listen!

I just pop in now and then.... :)

send an email to allan DOT leighton AT royalmail DOT com

from next year, rm loses its monopoly (couldn't happen to nicer people :P), when that happens we should all desert the b*****ds in droves.

i personally can't wait for this. i have had more arguments with my local sorting office than i care to remember. I basically told them they were all incompetent and that was why they did not receive a christmas bonus for 3 years! I have to say i really lost it with them that day. i never swear as a rule unless i'm in pain but that day my swear box filled up in 10 mins flat.

As some one who has NOT reiceved a box of wine and a book both LOST in the hands of couriers I wonder if it will all be sunshine and roses ahead after the change!

Also had to get a parcel delivered to a different address ( would not deliver to me!).....I did get it, about three months later as I was't visiting her for ages!

Can anyone say things will improve????

    Unfortunately not

As someone who works/ed for the London Underground and sees what a mess the private companies are getting into, I would not expect an improvement from privitisation.

Once profit margins have a higher importance than accuracy, efficiancy or safety then guess what will be the first to go ?

I have to add to this thread.

In general our depot is fantastic! Maybe it's because I live in a small town where everyone knows each other. Have only ever had to complain to Royal Mail once - when a letter got lost. It contained £35. Thought it would be lost or the cash missing - but lo and behold I got it back!

We have had quite a few problems in the past too with Royal Mail the usual you weren't in - no you couldn't be bothered bringing a parcel! Or when our son was born, a relative in Shetland got the baby present she had sent to us returned marked ' not collected' - we never knew it was there - the postie hadn't bothered with the card telling us to collect it from the sorting office. GRRRRRR
