What to do with booze (except drink of course!)

Options
Hi Guys, hoping you can help me out here, I tidied my pantry yesterday and came across loads of booze - now we do the same thing every year, buy loads of booze each christmas, for visitors, but because we are billy no mates, it all goes undrunk!

We currently have unopened bottles of:- Harveys Bristol Cream, Vodka, Gin, & Brandy

2 bottles three quarters full of Martini Rosso

about 2 dozen cans of stella, fosters and Tetleys

We don't drink spirits and OH only has the occasional shandy (bitter at that) so what do I do with all this booze without being wasteful? - Chicken stella casserole anyone?

Any ideas gratefully received

Natlou x

What about donating the unopened bottles to a raffle?
  • have a cocktail party, look up a few cocktail recipes online, invite any alchy mates and if there are any "ingredients" ask them to supply them (we used to do this all the time, each person would have a specific spirit to supply, then have lots of fun mixing them at the party ):D

Or give the unopened ones away next christmas as presents.

edit, just found this site, you type in what drinks you have and it suggests loads of cocktails! excellent! will have to bookmark that one ;):D

I can collect them for the next YouthOrchestra raffle if that would help.

  • Thanks for the replies everyone - but you're assuming I have mates!

Seriously though I can't really have a BBQ as I have no garden (I have a really nice house, but the fact that it's a 5 minute stroll to the beach, means I have no garden)

But no, seriously, I have no Mates (lol) Pigpen, If you want to come round you are welcome, although Im not sure how far 'the land of make believe' is from Filey?

    Any other ideas?

even better - Beach party!! go down there with lots of free booze and you will kill two birds with one stone - you'll get rid of the alcohol and have lots of new friends! (well, for as long as it takes for the drink to dry up anyway :p)

    :D

seriously though, spirits keep for years don't they? give them away again for xmas 08, or the raffle idea sounds good :)

If you look in your local shops window, there is bound to be details of a local community group, ring them to donate bottles or even the local school. My kids school does an adult only tombola and raffle for alcohol certain times of year. That gets rid of your bottles.

Tell the dustbin men you have an early or belated xmas tip for them- that gets rid of your cans.

That leaves you with 2x 3/4 martini rosso that I have no ideas for.

I'd leave the unopened bottles alone - and maybe, as has been suggested, use those as presents for any occasions where they might be suitable.

Wean your OH OFF bitter shandy (the philistine) and if he must have a shandy have him use the stella and co.

The Tetleys, however, is great for using as the base liquid in any sort of beef or lamb casserole (and the lager isn't - which is why hubby gets it :))

    HTH :)

  • Tetleys casserole it is then! (Any links to recipes please?) - having had a second look it looks like the Vodka and brandy have been opened but one one measure taken - any ideas now?

My kids school never asks for raffle prizes etc (in total contrast to their previous school which asked us for money etc nearly every week)
