Yep, as Alvin says. It's the same thing. Google just aren't allowed to legally offer "gmail" in the UK because they got sued over it. But whether you put gmail.com or googlemail.com it's exactly the same account and any email sent to either goes to the same account."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

But remember to use the full @googlemail, when you need to configure your email client or log into your account.
At least I have to.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

For me: collecting mail by POP3 the server is happy to accept username@gmail.com or even just username. It's the same with logging in via the web. That saves a bit of typing.0 -
you can use gmail.com and googlemail.com but only have googlemail.co.uk as far as i know itYes Your Dukeiness0

You could get someone you know in a foreign country to set up a GMail account for you.
There are techie ways (using a proxy server) of fooling a web site into thinking you're in a different country.
I've never tried this myself. However, I have noticed that if I go to the GMail site using the Opera Mini web browser on my mobile phone, I see GMail rather than Google Mail. This is because Opera's web proxy is located in Norway. For the same reason, the BBC site contains adverts and some sites have ads in Norwegian.0 -
As said, if you get a googlemail account, things sent to the same @gmail account will come through.
You can change how the from field of the emails you send is shown from the account settings (It might ask you to verify that you have the @gmail address - you could probably just send an email to yourself and when it comes in click on the link to prove you have access to the address)0 -
If you want to sign up for a Gmail account, you can fool the website into thinking you're from another country by relaying through a proxy server.
For IE go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Connection Settings, LAN Connection and tick the "Use proxy server". Enter 212.142.143.116 as the IP address, 8080 as the port and select the "Use for all protocols". Then apply, OK and go to gmail site and sign up - it'll think you're i Spain.
Likewise for Firefox, go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Network, Connection Settings and tick Manual Proxy Configuration entering 212.142.143.116 as the IP address, 8080 as the port and ticking "Use for all protocols"
Once you've got signed up, go back and undo the changes.0 -

I thought the reason they couldn't use it in the UK was becuase of a German company who own 'Gmail' in Europe.... So I would have thought they wouldn't be able to use it in Spain either.0 -
Have a read of the link in my post above, it gives the reason for not being able to use Gmail in the UK0
