No, you're not. It can be really difficult to tell somebody's tone from an online post, that's why there are so many misunderstandings on these sorts of forums.

i'm sorry to say i got sucked in to this and referred friends. also put on mse (the shame, the shame!!). but i've warned the friends now and honestly genuinely don't want any of their offers. so i've told them that.
