Actually it would be a bit of a squeeze for six. The two sleeping pods will hold three single airbeds each, but only just and no room left for kit. Would be a fabulous tent for a family of four though.

  • Have a look at https://www.cybercheckout.co.uk for cheap tents. They have got some 8 man tents for about £70.

The Diablo 600 is the dogs ?&?£?*^&'s, it's essentially a BIG four man tent which enables you to get two adults with a double airbed and space for some gear at the bottom, you could get three kids in a pod instead + bags etc which leaves more room in the fairly substantial central living area. There are a lot of tents for between £50 & £150 but none of them get close to the Vango range. The price is an absolute bargain as they retail for around £200, we got ours for £180 a couple of years back but it was the previous years model (they change minor things and colours sometimes). The seller is probably clearing the decks for the 2008 model and the new season.
The other thing to note is that this is a BIG tent, i wouldn't want ot put it up for just two nights as it takes about 45-60 minutes and an argument to erect (:wall:) and make sure you know how big it's footprint is before doing a test run in the back garden, it covers a large area !!!!!
(The diablo 900 (three pods) would be better for a family of six if you are going for more than a weekend)

I know this is a money saving forum - but in this case, I'd definitely choose the more expensive (but still a good deal) Vango over anything from Cybercheckout. You get what you pay for, by and large, when it comes to tents. The quality of the cyber checkout tents isn't great, so I'd definitely recommend going for a well-known make such as Outwell, Khyam, Vango, Coleman, etc...

Unless you like the idea of being rained-on through a leaky tent at 3 in the morning! :p

Couldn't agree more, buying the more expensive Vango tent will be cheaper in the long run. I have an Equinox 350 that my OH and I lived in for most of a year travelling round New Zealand, looking back that trip must have been equivalent to about 20 years normal use! It picked up a lot of knocks as you'd expect, and the fierce UV has made it a lot paler than it used to be, but it's still in use and still bone dry inside.

I've never had to use it myself, but I'm told that Vango's after-sales is pretty good too, even for obsolete models.

Compared to a Vango, these are the equivalent of plastic bags propped up with garden canes.

A Vango will last around six to seven years, given care with drying etc. (UV degradation gets to all synthetic tents, alas.) You can get spare poles for it and the build quality means it will stand up to some pretty poor weather...it's designed for 2-3 season leisure camping and that means UK seasons, lol. If something does go wrong, Vango have one of the best customer service departments of the camping world. They offer a lifetime guarantee (over the expected life of the tent, that is) on their products.

£70 for a tent made by someone no-one has ever heard of? Waste of hard cash, sorry. Most tents like that barely make it through a sunny weekend, let alone a British summer.

Thanks guys for the info and thanks OP for the link.

I've just ordered one as we are off to WOMAD this year and we needed a tent. Can we fit a travel cot and a single airbed in 1 pod? Hubby and I are taking DD (5) and DS (12 months) and was going to sleep a child with an adult IYSWIM so the kids are safer. Unless it's teeming it down and then DS is going to have a nice weekend with Nana - in the dry :rotfl:

    Plato ;) Make £2018 in 2018 no. 37 - total = £1626.25/£2018 :j
  • Watch out. The 2006 model is inner erection first, the 2007 is outer erection first.

So if its a 2006 and raining the inside gets wet.

Check the model year with Blacks and confirm with the Vango website.

We have the 400 and that caused enough arguments over erection. Ooh Mrs.

Do Vango do a 9 person tent? We are family of 6 - & prefer to have 2 to a pod, plus living space for gear etc.

    Any deals around?

    Cheers.

Vango do everything from hi-tec one man tents suitable for use on Everest to palatial family mansions of tents.

    Web site here.....http://www.vango.co.uk/

The best deals are usually discontinued models and colours, and for these you really need to just get Googling and look at all the camping shop websites that pop up. If you look up "Vango Diablo 900 2007) than you'll find last years models. Another great source is Ebay....many of the big shops dump their discontinued stock there.
