That's pretty good although it doesn't shred CDs, it just makes the "unreadable" by stripe dotting, which is probably fine though! To quote from the FAQ: Q) can you please explain what stripe dotting means? - Katie A) It is effectively lines of circular imprints on the cd which make it unreadable.

Fellows do some heavy duty CD and paper shredders, Staples and Viking Direct carry many different types.

I've a sturdy Rexel cross-cut shredder, but it can't cope with CDs either... Scratching or snapping them in half in a bag usually is fine.
  • Send them to a government official, tell him they contain confidential material, they will get lost in the post never to be seen again, it's what I do with all my details.

Going off on a slight tangent here, and this is by no means an attack on the OP.

Do you think as a nation we have become totally paranoid over private data being found?

  • Never mind CDs, try microwaving a hard drive, I've done that before- huge fun. I just microwaved a few CDs and that's fun too.

Yes and you should be, unless you have had identity theft you won't know what a pain in the a** it is, takes ages to sort it out.
