Hi guys,
I have payment agreement with the Moorcroft Group for an old mobile phone debt. Ive been paying £50 per month for the last 3 months and 2 more payments to go before the debt is repayed. I have a standing order set up and am watching to mke sure I dont miss any payments as I m trying hard to get myself sorted out.
I recieved a letter today from the moorcroft saying I had defaulted on my payments and I now owe the full debt immediately. I checked online with my bank and the payment definately left my account on the 1st but I noticed a credit on my account for the same amount on the 7th. I called my bank and asked what it was and they said it was from moorcroft??? I asked if the payment had been returned but they said It had definately left my account then a seperate credit was made by them??
I called them to ask what was going on and got the most rude, horrible woman on the phone who really didnt care why It happenned and just kept demanding that I pay the full amount now as I had lost my right to installments!!! Is this a tactic they employ to get you to pay as I really cant afford to pay it in full!
can anyone help?

Hello
You are not alone. When I had a debt with Moorcroft i got so many letters saying i had failed to keep to the payment plan and now require the full balance. I was so annoyed because i always paid on time. I believe they do this so you will pay the full balance. I finally managed to get them to let me go back paying in installments.
Even when I paid the full amount six months ago it took 3 months to get a letter saying i had paid the balance in full and the account is now settled. I think I called about 50+ times asking for this letter that they had sent out about twenty times.
Don't let them bully you into making full payment if you can't afford it, they definitely can't make you pay.

moorcroft did the same to me when they were handling my barclaycard debt..I stood my ground as I knew I was paying the amount as agreed.
I think it is a tactic certainly they were horrible to me and made threats.
then the debt was handed over to another company.
good luck0 -
Common tactic for most debt collectors to demand "full payment" at the slightest excuse.
Just keep paying regularly what you can afford and don't let all their idle threats get to you.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi everyone
It is such a shame when you've gone to the effort of setting up a payment plan in the first place that these things happen.
I've found when dealing with my creditors that most of them have been pretty helpful to be fair. All I would say is not to worry too much about the ones that do get stroppy - you have set up a payment plan for a reason. Just keep telling them that the maximum that you can pay is what is agreed - almost parrot fashion and soon they will get the hint!0 -

Thanks for the advice everyone, Il stick to my guns! I find it really strange that they would go to all the trouble of sending me £50 back though......Its as if they dont actually want me to pay!
you folks are great! thanks

I had the opposite, I made a card payment off DH account and they kept taking payments from me without permission. Had loads of hassle in the end the debt was passed to crapquest.Barclaycard 3800

Definitely stand your ground. If you trust yourself to send the cheques regularly then I would start paying it off by cheque sent recorded mail.
At least you will soon be rid of them! And don't let them try and whack more on top of your debt for further admin fees!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Have you tried asking for a payment book, we used to have one when DH's bank account was frozen.Barclaycard 3800

Continue to pay the £50 per month, you only have two more months to go - even if Moorcroft take the situation to court, by the time they have done all of that the two months will be up and it will have been paid anyway.
Many of the people at these companies are targetted on how much payment they can generate in a day, this lady was just trying to get her figures up at your expense. So take no notice, enjoy the fact that it will be soon be over!0
