Is it true that you have to have a licence to use a radio and a mobile phone in your house. Normally this would be included in your TV licence, but I heard that if you don't have a TV then you should have a licence for the other things.

A pc licence, where do you get them from?Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0

You need a TV licence is you have "equipment" capable of receiving TV broadcasts. So PC, video, TV etc etc. Doesn't matter if you don't have a TV.
There was once a radio licence I think but that was a while ago. You don't need one now.
There was a licence for HAM radio operators transmitting on short wave.
There is no licence for a mobile phone (unless it can receive TV in which case it may be covered by your TV licence).
I think.....0 -
you only need a tv licence if you watch or record live TV broadcasts, end of story. Ownership of the equipment is irrelevant.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

If you operate equipment that is capable of receiving live TV broadcasts.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -

I'll rephrase it.
"If you do not use TV receiving equipment, including TV receivers, video recorders, set-top boxes and computers with broadcast cards, you do not need a TV licence."
That's a quote from TV Licensing.
Albertross you are editing your posts faster than I can reply to them.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
This quote from the website is more specific (the problem with that one is it can be (and frequently is) misinterpreted, if it said you don't need a licence if you don't use a washing line to dry clothes, that could be interpreted that you do need one if you own a washing line).
"You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, digital box, DVD or video recorder, PC, laptop or mobile phone to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV".
Theoretically you need one if you view a live BBC etc webcast of a live TV programme across the net, but they would never find out with current powers.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
