Quick question about O2 retentions call

Hiya
Just spoke to O2 retentions and they asked me to call them back on the day my contract was up to discuss the best deals I can have with them. I had mentioned a deal I found elsewhere but apparently it's too early to renew ( contract up on the 29th March).
I don't mind waiting as I don't want ot end up with 2 contracts overlapping, but if I call them on the day my contract ends, even if I request my PAC code doesn't that mean that by the time I get the PAC code I'll technically be tied to yet another month with them? Is this normal practise, or shoudl I call a couple of weeks before the end of my contract and put some pressure on them?
Thanks for your help!

Yes, you are correct. You are allowed to upgrade or give notice of cancellation within 30 days from the end of your contract, so ideally, you need to call them on or after 29th February so that you do not end up paying an extra month's line rental (past the minimum term).0

I figured they'd be on the make. Thank you!0

I called 3 times between about 20 and 10 days to go, and I think the new deal may have started on the date we finalised it.
Then my leftover minutes didn't roll over, but as I'd asked 3 people and one had erroneously told me they would, I later asked for and got a £20 credit0 -
It's renewal time again with O2. At the moment we are on 800 mins and 500 texts for £20 per month. We've been with O2 for years.
They've offered an 18 month contract this time for £25 pm to include:
600 anytime mins
1000 texts
ONE free bolt on for duration, choice of:
02 to 02 calls
Unlimited internet access
Unlimited calls to other networks Sat & Sun, or,
Unlimited landline weekend calls
Not liking the 18 month contract .
Don't really want to pay any extra per month either .
Apart from that it seems a fair deal but I would welcome any comments. Thanks.0 -
