I'm fairly certain Madrid only has the one airport. (I will stand to be corrected on that.)

Re booking a room - I use hotelscomparison.com in conjunction with reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. We were there in October and stayed at the Room Mate Alicia. I think we booked through Find Rooms after checking the rates through hotelscomparison and also checking the hotel's website for the best price.

    Kind regards

We had 3 nights there and did the main 'touristy' things mentioned in the guide books e.g Prado, Palace, another famous art gallery - the name escapes me at the moment, a walk around the park and a trip to the Bernabeu Football Stadium, which DH thought was great. We also went to a flamenco show. (Sorry if that's a bit vague - I'm in total research focus mode for our next trip now and my head is spinning with those details.)

    Have a great time.

    Hi
    Have you tried https://www.travelodge.co.uk/saver_search/results.php?search_type=4&search=Madrid%2C%20Espa%F1a&id=29416
We've stayed in the Madrid Torrelaguna and it's excellent but it's 20 mins by bus from the centre (only 1 euro each way) Door to door though.
Quite good reasonable priced restaurants very near the hotel and a supermarket across the road. (We bought our breakfasts there)
I'd definitely stay again. Has its own restaurant too which is lovely and the hotel has a 3 star spanish rating. It's nearly new and was immaculate with helpful reception. You'll get rooms for 35/45 euros per night. That's per room and NOT per person.
  • Have a look at this page, i found it quite helpfull.

I'd recommend doing a search on Venere - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
PM me if you want a 4% discount code.

I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere (also check out hotelscomparison.com), as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.

    Hope that helps

PS - I'm not connected to this website in any way, and I don't gain anything from this post. I also found the discount code on another forum.
  • To the main one which is easily accesible by metro -super cheap card with ten tickets that you can share only 6.70 euros. We went recently and stayed in barajas (nr aiport) but the metro is so good and runs tillv. late so it is easy to get a cheaper hotel on the outskirts and go by metro. We stayed at NH barajas which was a reasonable standard and good breakfast -dont pay more than ££60 a night for this hotel.

hotelscomparison and trip advisor is best.

Saturday after 2.30pm-reina sophia museum free
Sunday-prado and a couple more are free
Wednesday _eu citizens get in free to the palace and a few more things.

Ryanair certainly fly into Barajas (MAD) which is c30 mins from downtown.

    Can't comment on hotels.

Would recommend getting the MadridCard. Includes the Bernabau tour, Zoo, Aquarium, museums and tour bus.

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
